Also take these two things into consideration before worrying about your temp guage. Somewhere in the owners manual I read that the temp gauge doesn't start to calibrate and read correctly until you get to speeds over 30 MPH. Also, here's the big one. Most bank sign thermometers are mounted 6 to 8 feet above the ground. Thats the standard to keep radiating heat from the ground from interfering with the actual ambient air temperature. Your temp sensor is mounted maybe 4 feet high and you're always on asphault or some type of pavement. The temp guage is almost always going to read higher than a bank sign or weather sensor when it's extremely hot out. Hope this helps.

That is a good explanation. On hot days mine seems to always read 5 or 6 degrees hotter than a car dealerships sign thermometer, I drive by frequently. Now I know why

During a trip from Co. to Cal a week ago, the overhead on my 05 read pretty much right on.

The lowest was on the grade right outside of stateline.

Coming thru Vegas, it read 108. On the grade, we ran into a thundershower and it read 72.

Hit a whopping 119 goiong thru Baker and the thermometer there read 121.

Hey Jack! ... . darn, wheres that smilie guy that wiggles his backside when you need him ! Heck, mines been reading well above 100*for months now it seems, even stays over 100* at 2 in the freakin' morning!!

That explains it then...

Ummm. Anybody thought about relocating the sensor to the air intake? That would keep lots of fresh outside air moving across the sensor, plus give you actual information that you could perhaps use... just a thought.
