if you are physically over 50 years of age, what music do you prefer to get a good start on a road trip?

Well, I'm still a few years shy of 50, but I have a ton of Don Williams CD's for just such a purpose.

The only music I listen to is the 50's and early 60's.

I do have ta admit that 'some' country music sneaks in there at times.

Lots of choices

I don't stick with just the old stuff, but here are a few. Canned Heat, some zydeco Evangeline made, John Hyatt, Grateful Dog, Cracker, Beatles (the older stuff), Stones, Pure Prarie league, New Riders of the Purple sage, Indigo Girls, and too many more to mention.

Easy Hi-way cruising - Dean Martin. More upbeat - E. L. O. ; Fleetwood Mac; Neil Diamond. Normally - Christian radio stations & tapes.

I'm still a few years from 50, but even when I reach it, I'll probably still be listening to what I listen to now: nothing. In 200K miles of driving (since '90), I've probably had the radio/tape on in the vehicle perhaps 1000 miles of that. I like it quiet. Or as quiet as a Cummins with a droning 4" exhaust can be. :)

Ok, i am still waiting for someone to say Slipknot... ..... Anyone?...

yeah. . sometimes...

the local new rock/alternative station plays slipknot from time to time. .

when i am playing cd's. . well, it ranges from opera to classical to jazz, to punk, rock, hiphop, dance, techno... just depends on what i feel like listening to [notice country is not there... not too much of it that i like. . faith hil is ok. . but that is about it. . ]

... but i am 29 years shy of 50. unless you go by maturity level. . then i am more along the lines of 45 years shy of 50 :-laf. .

I like Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, BB King, Albert King, Little Milton, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Pink Floyd (older stuff), and many more.

I have a stock AM/FM radio in my truck though, so usually all I hear is the turbo music. Our local college has a "community radio" station with a wide variety of music. I only try to catch their blues and cajun/zydeco programs. (sometimes a little folk & bluegrass) Other than that, the radio is off here because the rest of it sucks. (Unless it's my own broadcasts)

(EDIT: I'm not 50 yet. I just feel like it some mornings)
