My truck didn't come with the thermo and comp, but the wife gave my an aftermarket mirror with them in it(looks like a chev mirror). I mounted the thermocouple on the lower radiater support, it seems to work but I was just woundering where they are from the factory.

I also just installed one of these mirrors. I put my probe down in the left opening under the bumper. I made a little bracket to hold it up and in the middle of the opening.

I did this because I was afraid my winter front would block the cold air flow at the "stock" location of the factory probe. if you don't have a winter front, the stock location may give a more accurate reading as it is about 1 foot higher.

Chris, keep us posted as to how your temps read come summer. Temps a foot off blacktop on a hot sunny day can exceed 150°

Having the sensor behind the grill is good if you're running a winter front. In my experience with an intake temp gauge the post intercooler temp is almost always 20° above the reading of the grill mounted sender for the overhead. I've had times later in the season where my intake temps were running too high, removing the winter front lowered both the overhead temp and the intake readings equally.

Hum...

Good point Bill. I'll have to keep that in mind. I may be moving that probe then. I've noticed that my temp shows about 2 degrees higher than any banks I run by. And it is about 4 degrees higher than my home thermometer shows. I guess that could be caused by the fact that my "sampling point" is closer to the ground, thus it is warmer.

My wife's Durango is up beside the radiator, next to the right headlight. Of course, her overhead console reads about 6 degrees high on any given day! Not sure what's up with that...

But, thanks for your thoughts. I may just "relocate":D
