I know that a lot of members have these on their trucks now. It is only fair to have a poll about the satisfaction of these.

(1). How many miles have you put on them?

(2). What problems, if any have you had with them?

(3). Will you buy another when this one wears out?

1. well over 15000 miles on the BHAF. Slightly discolored, and hardly any dirt buildup.

2. No problems at all. Due to the large area, it appears as if the dirt and grime doesnt inbed itself as quickly as it would on a smaller filter. The suction is spread out over a much larger surface area.

3. Yes I will buy another one. This looks as if it might last well over 70,000 miles or so. Just guessing by the amount of crud on it.

Well, I voted no problem. I've put about 12,000 miles of country driving (read lots of hay field and gravel road driving) on my BHAF since last July. The one oil analysis showed a silicon level of 4 with a little over 7k miles on the oil. The BHAF is miles and days ahead of the stock filter set up.

But, of late I've gotten the old truck to the point that I can bottom out the filterminder. Egt's are still within reason, but the fact that I'm pulling the vacuum gauge or filter minder down tells me that I need to find a way to supply additional air to the air hungry diesel fueled air compressor under the hood.

There is a longer BHAF out there, but the batteries need to go under the frame to use the BHAF2.

Scott's new generation dual snorkel system is starting to look pretty good.

1. ~10k

2. Nada problems.

3. Don't know ... depends on what's on the 'after' market. If nothing else is out there, qualified by 'cost effective', then you bet I'll buy another. I'd sure like to get the BHAF in a box, connected to the cowl or other outside air. But not for grande' $.

One big KISS (keeping it simple) for the Big Honker.

Its not expensive, simple, easy to replace, flows LOTS of air, filters good, and no oil to worry about.

If youre worried about water hitting it add the Outerwears prewrap.

I did notice a slight reduction in spoolup quickness w/ the wrap. Ended up taking it back off, and the turbo spools quicker than w/ any of the other 3 setups that I wasted money on.

Put 25k on first one. Changed it at the 50k super service just for giggles. It was still good just a little discoulered. 5k on the new oneOo. Oo.

I put 15000 miles on my first one pulling hay and running the back roads with out a problem, changed it out the other day and it has turned yellow but was really not dirty, so my young nieghbor took it to try on his 12 valve. I like the BHAF much better than the stok one or the K&N.

I give it a thumbs up.

Mines only been installed for 1 week now. So far, I am happy. Egt's are down about 100 less than what I was seeing with the RE0880. True test will this summer, when it's sucking in all that hot air. Not that this has much to do with anything, but it sure does look great under the hood.

I have had mine for about 15,000 miles now and I have no problems. I had the K&N before and after a couple of hours on the road the noise would bother me. the BHAF took the edge off of the turbo whine. Just a little note, when I was taking a class at Cummins all of their test engines in the dyno room had BHAFs on them.

I like it, 8000 on it and lookin good. It cut my smoke a lot and dropped EGT about 100deg as near as i can tell by driving conditions being roughly the same B4 and after.

I've had mine and the mount from Jason Boesl for about 4 weeks with one 750 mile trip pulling our 8000# TT. It replaced a K&N. I can't get the egt's over 1000 degrees. Seems like a little more noise thru the turbo, but if that was a bother we'd all be in something different... ... .

The 12v Cummins in our boat came with a BHAF mounted directly to the turbo inlet. I would imagine it has a fiberglas element.

BHAF

Bhaf is fleetguard # AH 19037; NAPA 2790 and WIX#42790. can be crossed into Donaldson, Baldwin, and others. the mhaf is AH19002, i believe, but it is smaller, and flows less air, i believe??

I am using the smaller version BHAF (19002 I believe) Marine version w/ the internal mesh.

This is how it fits: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/user_gallery/displayimage.php?&photoid=849&width=0

Would I get one again? Maybe, I haven't decided. We'll see what my EGT's are after the COMP. ;)

That's a nice setup.

I realize I'm about to take this off-topic, but do you have a problem with heat from the exhaust affecting your air horns? Just curious. I have been considering Hadleys or Grovers and wasn't sure where to mount them. That is a great location as long as there's no heat involved conflict.
