Thought some of the more clear thinking people on this board may find this funny.

Overcoming Liberalism: A 12-Step Program

The Program:

Step 1: Admitting that you’re a liberal

This is the first step for every liberal on the way to recovery. It is important to understand that you’re not “progressive,” “moderate,” or “enlightened. ” You’re a liberal, and you need to be honest with yourself about that fact.

Step 2: Pledge to support your beliefs with facts

Realize that truth is more important than moral superiority and is the only way to come over to reality. You must research beyond propaganda from the Sierra Club, Hillary Clinton, and CNN (the Communist News Network) to understand things as they really exist in the world. You can no longer argue based on “feelings” or emotion. You will actually need to back up your arguments with real information. This is a difficult step, because it means you can’t be lazy any more.

Step 3: Love America

This may be the most difficult step for those of you who are hippies and peaceniks. Admitting that the country you hate actually stands as a beacon to defend freedom throughout the world can make some of you physically ill. You might want to make a visit to a military cemetery to better understand that these men and women gave their lives so that you could spew hatred. Otherwise, you would currently be living in a police state that would never let you wear that nasty patchouli oil, let alone speak out against your government.

Step 4: Take a college level economics class

I’ve always defined a Socialist as someone who’s never taken an economics class. Most Socialists I’ve spoke with would have a hard time balancing their checkbooks, let alone explaining the simple concept of supply-and-demand. It’s time to flush your complete ignorance of basic economics down the toilet and understand how the world actually functions. This concept will be very important for the next steps that involve communism, facts about corporations, and the inefficiencies of government.

Step 5: Say “no” to Communism and Socialism

While this concept is obvious to most of the free world, it is an important step in your recovery process. If you have difficulty with this step, spend a week living and working in Cuba.

Step 6: Corporations are not evil

If you’re reading this article online or in an e-mail, it’s thanks to corporations. If you get some kind of paycheck, you can thank corporations. If you work for a non-profit or the government, you still have to thank corporations. The non-profit sector and the government wouldn’t have any money to pay you without corporations. It is also important that you understand that making a profit doesn’t equate to “greed” or exploitation. Capitalism has created the greatest society in our world’s history. Even communist countries need corporations to survive, so enjoy a nice, hot cup of reality.

Step 7: The government is inefficient

If you are one of those liberals who believe the government should tax us more in order to take care of society, you need to pay special attention to this step. You need to realize that government bureaucracy will waste most of your tax dollars, while the private sector will put your money to much better use. Even most Democrat politicians understand this to some degree, which is why Hillary’s socialist healthcare proposal was voted down by a majority of both Democrats and Republicans. Go to your local post office or call the IRS to ask a tax question if you need a reminder about government inefficiency.

Step 8: The earth is not your “mother,” and she’s not dying

The time has now come to stop your donations to Greenpeace, The Sierra Club, and every other EnviroNazi organization to which you belong. Face the reality that the earth, society, and our environment are better off today than ever in recorded history and that they are continuing to improve. I realize that many of you tree huggers will have a very difficult time letting go of the Douglas Fir on this one. I would suggest reading The Skeptical Environmentalist by Bjorn Lomborg. Mr. Lomborg is a former member of Greenpeace and is currently a statistics professor at a university in Denmark. He set out to prove the world was in bad shape and ended up surprising himself by proving the exact opposite.

Step 9: Stop smoking the wacky tobaccy

Okay, some of you might need to enter another 12-step program to complete this step. Marijuana is distorting your sense of reality, and you need to stop using it. Besides, you’ll save a fortune on snacks.

Step 10: Eat a hamburger

If God didn’t intend for us to eat animals, he wouldn’t have made them out of meat. You can put your sprouts and tofu on the hamburger, but get some meat into you. You’ll look and feel better than you ever imagined. You can always remind yourself that Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian to get you through this step.

Step 11: Stop re-writing political history

It’s now time to admit that Bill Clinton is a lying-cheating-sexist-racist-rapist jackass, Hillary Clinton is one of the worst role models for women in this country, Al Gore really did lose the 2000 election by every vote tabulation you attempt, Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War and didn’t create the homeless problem, John McCain is not a typical Republican, and Jimmy Carter is a nice man but has one of the worst presidential records of anyone in history.

Step 12: Be a missionary

Once you have completed the previous steps to overcoming liberalism, it’s time for you to share this awakening with others who are not as fortunate. Go out amongst the liberal sheep and spread the good word of your freedom from the chains of ignorance that once bound you. Congratulations, and welcome to reality.

I thought it was entertaining and mostly true. Aloha.

Wow!

That is great.

I have allways been amazed at how some of the simple truths just completely escape some, i. e. , its the Microsofts and John Deeres of the country that provide the jobs that make the country run-----not the government.

And isn't amazing how virtually ALL liberals deny that they are liberals and claim to be something else, while most conservatives proudly proclaim what they are..... wonder why? Could it be that deep in the recesses of their minds they really realize that liberalism is phony?

Thanks for a refresher course.

#8 is funny, at the local Adirondack Mountain Club Lodge (City folk that don't want you to wear lugged soles in the Adirondacks) you can look in the parking lot at the Volvo's, BMW's and other assorted foriegn vehicles and think, gee your supporting a car company that doesn't have much for environmental controls in the manufacturing process but that's ok it's somewhere else. Then you look at the huge building, it's a log structure and it's big, these are the same freaks that don't want a single tree cut down in the Adirondacks!

These are the same people that have signs posted at the begining of an old skidder trail that say, "NO Mountain Bikes Allowed" I guess they don't want the four foot deep ruts disturbed!!!!!

Liberals

I've often wondered the same thing. Why can't Liberals step up to the plate and admit that they're liberals?

What you do get is some lame excuse about labels and how nobody should be labeled, but they sure as heck don't mind calling conservatives, conservatives. Or explaining so proudly how being a conservative makes a person intolerant and ignorant.

What are Liberals so scared of?

On edit, here's a link for another test that will help determine where a person stands on the "left/right" scale.

Yep, the scream about habitat, yet they all own homes that took habitat away from some critter. They mountain bike in Moab and ***** about Jeepers, yet they all drove autos out there to ride their bikes. You figure it out, I can't.

Back in October 2000, a couple weeks after I brought Godzilla home, my dad and I drove him up to Teton National Park in Wyoming to hunt Elk. We stopped in a couple of the camp grounds that were opened specifically for the hunters to see if any looked like a good camping spot, and one of the hunters that we talked to actually was proudly wearing a Gore/Lieberman 2000 button :--)

I simply can not comprehend how someone who believes in hunting, carries a gun out in the woods can also support a political candidate, who, if elected, has made it widely known that he will do everything in his power to ban all firearms and overturn the U. S. Constitution...

Guess I'm just not enlightened enough...

Bumper stickers

Three bumper stickers

1. Dont eat meat it is dead

2. I am WOMAN

3, Haaggen daas Ice cream!

If you ''check the facts'' it should be obvious that to get ice cream [from milk] the cow must be freshened or bred . My question to the WOMAN is what to do with the male cattle that result from her love of ice cream? Do we let them wander the streets like in India? Or is it more fun to criticize the people who eat hamburger?

Got this in an e-mail today

The Bill of Non-Rights

The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell

Kaye from GA. This guy should run for President.

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help

everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more

riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the

blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our

great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain

and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny,

guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters.

We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people

are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill

of NON-Rights. "

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or

any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally

acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This

country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone --

not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a

different opinion, etc. ; but the world is full of idiots, and probably

always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you

stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not

expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives

independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing.

Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly

help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing

generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve

nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional

couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would

be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not

interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people.

If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be

surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others.

If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other

citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock

you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big

screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want

you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but

we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and

vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American

means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way,

is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of

idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of

Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where

you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to

wherever you came from.

(lastly... . )

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history

or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God.

And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any

faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN

GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are

uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!

Scored 14. Did # 4 ... . 4 years accounting, 3 years economics. Republicans = Large defecits = they compete with us for money supply and interest rates ultimately go up. Interest rates go up . . economy goes in the crapper. Studied it, seen it, lived it. I am not looking forward to 27% interest again nor $30,000. quarterly interest payments like I made 20 years ago. in the 90's our average sale was $25,000. The last 2 years has been $6,000. Waiting on the next Clinton so I can make enough to retire.

Found this on Snopes.

Origins: Mitchell Kaye,

a Georgia state representative from Marietta, is not the originator of the piece. The famed "Bill of No Rights" was written in 1993 by Lewis Napper, a self-described amateur philosopher and from Mississippi who ran for a U. S. Senate seat in 2000 as a Libertarian.

Well, I have eight years of higher ed. (including more economic courses than about anything else)and the above regarding the economy is UTTER NONSENSE.

Like most extremists (whether extreme conservatives, extreme liberals, or whatever), they see the rest of the world in terms of black and white, "you're with us or you're against us". If you don't agree with everything they say, that means you're with the enemy - you're a liberal. Extreme liberals are the same way often though. That's why when I talk with extreme liberals, I get branded a conservative, and when I talk with extreme conservatives (like a few on this website), I get branded a liberal. A person who thinks for himself is really neither, since neither approach is the right one. Since you think for yourself, and don't like the way a Republican has done something, in their eyes, that makes you a liberal.

Too many people see politics the same way they view sports. It shouldn't be about "my team versus your team" (i. e. Dems versus Repubs, or vice versa), it should be about doing what's best for the country as a whole. Extremists from either side don't see it that way though, they're more concerned with making their team look good, and making the other look bad.

There SHOULD be no lib vs. conserv. spin, but most people will give it some. In reality, there is some, but not nearly as much as people from each side want to make it out to be. From the conservatives side, many often want to claim that our taxes are too high entirely because of welfare programs by the liberals. The reality is that all of the welfare type programs make up a miniscule percentage of the national budget (I haven't checked in a while, but I think it's well under 1%). The way many conservatives talk, you'd think that something like half of our tax dollars are used to pay for welfare moms, drug programs, etc. That's apparently why they think that removing those programs would cut our taxes by a huge amount. The reality is, those things are a tiny portion of our tax dollars. Most of our tax money actually pays people's salaries, whether military folk, other federal employees (i. e. CIA, FBI, IRS, EPA, DOE, etc. etc. ), or state/local employees through money sent to the states (i. e. policemen, firemen, etc. ), or paying government contractors (i. e. Lockheed-martin, Raytheon, etc. ). Yes, there is money wasted, but the majority is not just money tossed out to deadbeats. More often than not, cutting taxes only results in either people getting laid off, or massive deficits.

I have seen no "extreme conservatives" on this site. I have, however, seen hard working honest Americans, who believe in their God-given rights, and this country, defending what they hold dear quite loudly... .

And if thats wrong, well brand us away, and keep the irons HOT!

I may have seen one or two border line extreme liberals.

Its as simple as right and wrong. The Liberals want to take away everything we have, in fact, flush us right off the planet if at all possible.

The conservatives basically just want to be left alone.
