Overdrive off switch new for 06

I was reading the newest MasterTech and it says new for 06 is an overdrive off in addition to the tow haul mode. It takes a double push of the button to shut off the overdrive. If it is that easy maybe they will come up with a flash to change the earlier trucks.

I brought this up weeks ago. It is a nice extra touch,wish my 05 had it,but I can live without the durango looks and electronics

I just had my switch reversed so it is off when I start up. To activate O/D I push the button. Really like it this way. Mine is a 95

I can do the double tap on my 05 to lock out O/D. It has a production date of 08/04

Master Tech is a monthly publication/training aid for D/C service employees.

Use the Tow/haul mode when you want more aggresive shift points and more control on decell. I would only lock out od if I was seeing a lot of in/out of od automaticly.

Sorry to sound skeptical, but when you "double tap" is there any indication on the dash that OD is locked out?

Can you elaborate on this? What do you see when you do this- any visual indication?



My truck also has a build of 8/04. Double tapping the switch just returns me back to what ever mode I started in.

If I go to tow mode while in OD, it will downshift and hold third - as long as I maintain throttle. If I get out of the throttle it will upshift back to OD.



I suspect yours will also upshift if you roll out of the throttle. If not I'd like to hear more about this.

The double click Did work on my o5while towing to the races Friday No there is no indicator showing you locked out o d. Now its time to do the DTT pkg,The truck is way too slow shifting down the track. Able to get a 2. 1 60 ft but the 2/3 shift and 3/4 shift not to impressive.

The 2006 RODEO truck I drove with the TOW/HAUL/OVERDRIVE OUT switch (picture above) did have TWO indicator lights; one for TOW HAUL, the other for OVERDRIVE OFF. I guess the 2006 trucks have been fixed.

BD Torque-Loc has a setting that lets your truck start in drive w/ overdrive off, you must then hit switch to put it in od. (light comes on in dash) 2003
