Any members out there have any experience with overdrive transmissions on the Turbo Diesels???? I have been considering a US Gear overdrive unit for my 95 Dodge TD and would like to hear about any and all experiences with this gearbox. Any recommendations, troubles, success stories, failures, operational problems???

I'm also considering a USgear overdrive for my '98 24v 4x4. My understanding is that USGear is the only unit that will work in 4wd. Any comments guys?

I have a '98 3500 QC 4X2 12v auto, 4:10. I installed a Gear Vendors OD about 10k miles ago. So far, it's the absolute best improvement I've made to the truck. I would highly recommend it. It cut my unloaded cruise RPM at 70 mph to 1750 rpm and seems to have given me about 1. 5 - 2. 0 mpg at that speed. I can also pull my fifth wheel in 3rd over without worrying about 4th gear in the transmission. You can set it so you can manually control the engagement or set it to automatically engage at 40 - 45 mph.
 
I have a US GEAR unit in my truck, and I Love it!!! I tow in double overdrive 1750 rpms at 70 mph smoooooth, I can split all gears, I can use to decel with exhaust brake, I can use in 4x4 low range to make it more usable for plowing forward and backwards, there are no limitations!!
I have the perfect gear for any situation!!
Fuel mileage can and does improve when not speeding!
I have used and abused it for 25000 + miles and drained the fluid to find it crystal clear.
I even drag raced it last weekend at the US Truckin Diesel nationals 16. 44 ET at 84. 25 miles per hour,
this truck makes over 400 hp and 900 lb. torque.

One Word; AWSOME!

they only fit extended cab long beds on 4x4 models.

I have a Gearvendor. As Ted said the US is almost impossible to install on a std. cab or a ext. cab short bed. They require fuel tank mods. My neighbor laughed at me spending $2600 on an O. D. unit but it was money well spent. Just came out of VA. with 8000-9000lb trailer. 5th. gear and Over, 75 mph. 2000rpm.
