Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Overflow valve ?

Is there a way to tell if your over flow valve is bad? Any symptons? Pete

Pull the valve out and take the bolt out of the top. This will let you remove the spring. It should be . 5" long. You can stretch it back out for a short term diagnosis but it will collapse back down pretty quickly.

You can also pinch off the return line [ slowly ] , that is what the overflow valve does .

Basically, if your overflow valve is bad, it is usually allowing too much fuel through it. If this is the case, pinching the return line should bring your fuel pressure up.

where to pinch overflow valve?

Hello,

New to the forum and still learning about my truck, 98 12V. I'm having FP problems... just replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the pre filter, and installed a new lift pump and fuel lines from the tank to just before the fuel filter. I also replaced the overflow valve a year ago. I find it hard to believe the valve is already bad though. Where exactly do you pinch off the return line to check the overflow valve? The line is rigid after the overflow valve and behind the fuel filter. The only place I see soft rubber is behind the IP... how do you get behind there to pinch it off the line??? Any pointers or tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
