got a question maybe someone has the ansewer , bought a new oveflow valve got part number 14174 13047 , what is on the pump now is 24174 13093 the motor is the 1998 , 215 HP , I know by looking at the valve I can see a ball in the valve on top of it , the one on the motor now does not have this , is this an updated replacement or did I buy something not ment for this motor ?

I bought one just like that on Ebay - caused a stumble at 45-48 mph... Streched the spring in the old one and it worked fine. I cross referenced the number on the valve and it turned up an application for a Fiat.

A WHAT ? A fiat ? , it hits the trash & mark it up to experience and try streching the spring maybe that might work ? how far on streching the spring ?

I also bought mine off e bay but was concerned about installing that one mainly because it looked different , if it operates as well as the original valve when new heck maybe I will try it , if not than I could purchase the correct replacement , thanks for the info it helps keeping the older Dodges running .

I bought one from TST when my old one failed. Idle is now in the low 30s and on the road fuel pressure is 35 to above 40.

E-mail the guy that has the one on Ebay with the little ball on top. I did and he didn't recommend it for our trucks, but said he does sell the right one. I ordered it and it has worked great for over a year now. He is very helpful.

I have the one with the ball for over 60k & so does my friend. Cummins wants $27. They told me it was the wrong one & wouldn't work. ( I beg to differ ) The one they said is for my truck was $230. 00. My friend & I own a 96, 5-speed.
