Chinese VP44???

"Burned out" EGT gauge???

So, they are overhaulin' an H1.

They are replacing the diesel motor with a 454.

retards. What's a matter, super car builder TV show can't figure out a diesel?

retards.

Funny, they said you can pull up to any gas pump and fill it up. Yeah, any and all as that 454 gets 4mpg with 10,000 truck :)

Hey, what a minute....

Maybe the producers should had Banks, Piers, or anyone with some Hotrodin' Diesel experience replace the 6. 2 0r 6. 5 with a 5. 9 Cummins :cool:

Did any one else catch the comments by the CEO and other people that it had a lot more power? :rolleyes:

Yep. Bunch of retards. . if the 454 really had more power and durability, would you really think they would of dropped that CARBURATED 454 in the H1 in the first place?

Since the H1 used the 6. 2L and later the 6. 5L GM diesel, it probably did! :eek:

As previously mentioned, the 6. 5 is a P. O. S. With regard to the 454 vs. Duramax, you must remember that often times, so it seems, the vendors on the show donate their items in exchange for name dropping advertising. If you were the dealer that was doing that, I kinda think that the gasser & trans must have been cheaper than the duramax and an allison.

Now for the stupidity award... when Foose and Co. were interviewing the journalists, the journalists told a story of a firefight were the hummer would not start. They had one guy cranking the engine while the other had the hood up and was banging on the injection pump and they finally got it started. Why would anyone want to be out in harm's way with a vehicle that has a long history of DS4 injection pump failures.

If I am not mistaken, most of the military hummers were manual injected DS2 pumps and no turbo on them, they are more dependable. The heat from the turbo and bad design on the DS4 is what kills the electronic 6. 5 diesels, and imaging being in 120 degree heat...

They get the parts free I suspect that why

Its just show business and they use what the venders let them have I would say. It probably break down about a few miles gown the road. Lots of short cuts taken I bet.

Free parts or not

I hope no one ever sets me/my truck up as a canadate on overhaulin. :{

You took me Cummins out and replaced it with what! :-{}

Yea, I can't believe our military's vehicles use the junkiest diesels in those otherwise tough vehicles. That thing just BEGS for a inline 6 diesel! That flaw is almost as bad as the 6. 0hhhhh's in an ambulance! Yikes, THAT is a scarry thought too!

I love Cummins (I've owned one since 1990) but the inline 6 is too tall an engine when compared with the V arrangement - it's all about ground clearance in a real H1 military vehicle.

The H1 is military vehicle, but is crap. Its to big for anywhere excpect the US and the desert. Now the M37 was a great truck.
