2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Overhead consol temp stuck at -40!!

My overhead consol temp is stuck at -(that's minus)40 degrees! I don't think it's EVER been -40 in Sacramento! Do I need a new probe and where is it? Most of them are out in the breeze up front some place. Anyone else have this problem?

The probe is under the hood, mounted by the hardware that mounts the driver's side headlight to the truck. That's waht is sounds like, I know that's what Ferds do when they go out

On your 2001 it is mounted to the hood centered behind the grille.

Maybe not. Check for an unplugged sensor/broken wires where WestTN indicated. The -40° F is caused by an open circuit - internal to the sensor or external.
