overhead console MPG read out

I was doing some checking , and it appears that my 04 does not have the instantaneous reading for MPG like my fathers 01 has. It will give avg, and when you reset it it appears to be instantaneous,but at that point it would have to be instantaneous. My fathers 01 manual lists the instantaneous feature,and truck has it, but my O4 manual doesnt. Is this Just me , or did DC do away with this feature. I thought I ordered more options than my fathers 01 had, but it appears that theyve stripped these trucks to much to cut costs, so your ending up with less.

Also I noticed my wife has a 02 Jeep and her console adds which door is open, Service interval, mutiple languages, and controls for the alarm (chirp,light delay, unlock all doors etc)

They did away with the instantaneous mpg reading. Just has the avg. mpg. My 03 reading is usaually off by 1-2 mpg, as well. Among other apparent cost-savings measures was the removal of the under-hood light.

Yep, they continue to strip 'em down. No instant MPG readout. My '93 Mark VIII had that, eleven years ago! My '03 1500 hemi had a dark tinted rear window. The '04 CTD doesn't. Both trucks are Sport SLTs. The underhood light is part of the "Light Group" now.
