I found this on E-Bay. Paid $20 for it. Think it will work... will I need the ECM reflashed. . or is there something else I will need? I figured for a 20 I would give it a shot.

I was going to post a question about this. Since I sold my Laramie 2500 Hemi and bought this SLT+ 3500 CTD, That is the ONLY thing I miss from the Laramie package. I would think the wiring harness should plug right in and the "brain" to the Homelink system is in the unit that you bought.

Let us know if it is just "plug and play"

Thanks

On edit: Peeler why don't you pull your console out and plug the new one in and see if it works? YOu don't mind being the Guinea Pig do you ?? :)

Me too! I posted about this a year or so ago, but no one really knew. If it works out I will start looking more actively for one, too. My wife has homelink in her van - I wish I had it in my truck.

I bought a new one from Dodge and installed it in my 2004 SLT. I cannot get the homelink to set. I have the same thing in my Jeep and it sets easily, but this one will not program. The distance until empty is incorrect also. I think the dealer may have to enable something in the computer to make it work. Keep us posted on your results.

I tried to install it today. Everything lights up and i can go through the step functions but no readings, just straight lines instead of numbers. The homelink won't learn either, the indicator lights up when i push the buttons. My guess is that it has to be enabled just like the airbag switch. My guess is the service dept at the dealer here won't have a clue on how to do it.
If anyone here hears anything let me know.
Hey, TommyGun, if you get a chance could you ask at your dealership?

Kday, I upgraded to a Homelink unit last year on my truck and everything works fine for me. The only thing is that the units come programmed from the factory for a 26 gal tank but you can get that reprogrammed to a 34 gal tank, which I still haven't done yet. The only thing it effects is your DTE reading.

Thanks 1Tufdsl, did you buy the unit from a dealer? Also how much was it and the only thing to flash is for the tank difference.

That's correct, I bought it from a local dealer for around $130'ish. Regarding the tank size, you just need to have the dealer hook up the DRB to the truck and tell the new unit that you have a 34 gal tank instead of a 26 gal. The part # was 56049707AF.

To remove the existing unit you need to remove the light covers on each side. BE CAREFUL! They are fragile. I used a small screwdriver and gently applied resistance to pop off the lens covers. Once you remove that, you will see two torx screws (silver) holding the console in place. Unscrew those and pull the console down gently, the front clips will come off easily. Once you can see in there, there are two jacks, one to the module and one for the lights. The light jack is easy, the module jack is a bit snug. But, there is a clip below the jack that you need to push in and pull out. Once that is done, plug in the new one. Enjoy...
