I closed the sunglass holder in the overhead console, and the catch snapped off. Is the sunglass compartment replaced separately,or do you have to replace the entire assembly?

Larry I was wondering the same thing I justed bought my 01 HO and that was is also broke on mine. I am curious to find out if it is replaceable by it self or do you have to buy whole works.

you just have to replace the door or holder. it was $23. 00 or something like that at DODGE. It doesn't take long to replace it. You just have to take the console down and be careful doing it. -Jason

I have the same problem. My replacement part cost $35. 00 at the local Dodge dealer.

How does the console come down. There are no visible screws holding it up. I wonder just how many of the sunglass compartments have broke, looks like a common problem.

You open the garage door opener holder, push the 2 latch tabs foreward while pulling the front of console down. Then after you have it out, remove the 4 screws that hold the light in place to remove the door.

After you push the 2 tin latch tabs and pull the front down,Slide the whole think back to release the back hook type catched. You might break them off if you try to pull down on the back.

My overhead console only has the hole/pocket and not the sunglass holder. To remove it you take the two screws from the back and slide the overhead console towards the back of the truck. the clips near the front are retained by a key shaped hole with the wider portion at the top. When putting in place, the clips are spring loaded so you just position the console and push straight up. Unfortunately, I broke a post on the console finding this out. Now the console doesn't seat tightly against the roof :( . Looks like I need to by a new overhead console but that means I have to paint it, and put the clips on it, and move the lights and etc. Think, I'll just wait for warmer weather.
