After my last fillup, I was trying to reset the overhead console and got this reading "VAR" I hit one of the buttons and changed the numbers. Didn't realize what I had done. DOH! I need to know the zone for California to make sure I have it programmed properly.

Thanks in advance!

I assume the zones have to do with the calibration of the compass?

Absolutely right!! In the owners manual , there's a couple of pictures which illustrate how magnetic variance differences afect the compass readout. Although it only shows the continental USA, mine worked okay in the Zone 4 mode when I was in California last year and throughout the trip upto Canada and back and then over to the upper east coast, it was still on zone 4 and still is now in Europe. ;) It's a good approximation, but if you want something with more granularity, check out the GPS stuff from Garmin, , amongst others... .
