The Ccd code shows up sporadically on my overhead counsel. What does it mean and what should I do about it.

I got this code a few years ago and took it in to the dealer for diagnosis of this same issue when it was still under warranty. I don't recall what they told me it was and besides it didn't cost me anything at that time. Can you help?

This indicates the compass mini-trip computer module has encountered a problem "talking" with other electronic modules over the CCD (Chrysler Collision Detection) data bus.

You can initiate a self-test of the compass mini-trip computer module by doing the following:

1. Ignition switch OFF

2. PRESS and HOLD both the "Step" and "US/Metric" buttons.

3. Turn the ignition switch ON (don't start the engine).

4. Continue to HOLD both buttons until the compass mini-trip computer module enters a display segment test, then release.

5. After the tests finish, turn the ignition switch OFF.

Following completion of these tests, the compass mini-trip computer will display one of three messages: PASS, FAIL, or CCd.

The "FAIL" code means the compass mini-trip computer module needs to be replaced.

The "CCd" code can only be investigated using a Chrysler DRBIII scan tool. The DRBIII can help pinpoint where the communication failure is occurring. It could be the result of a module failing, or possibly a wiring harness or connector problem.

Good luck,

Thanks John. That is exactly the information I needed. I'll perform the test this evening when I get home from work.

I scoured the internet looking for a solution to ccd showing up on my overhead display. I recently took the overhead consul down to replace a switch for the rider side map light. I ordered the part over the internet and waited a few days for the part. I drove the truck several times with the overhead display unplugged. When I got the switch I made the repair and plugged together the wire loom under the consul. The overhead display has worked flawlessly since with no ccd error message. Be sure to review the you-tube video on how to remove the overhead consul before starting.

In short: Pull down the consul, unplug the main wire loom and start the truck. Re-plug and start the truck to test the display. Then re-mount the overhead consul.

Mine showed CCD after the dash was replaced by dealership. They had not pushed the connector from the display to the module on the firewall hard enough. the tech reached up under the dash and pushed till it clicked and all was well.
