Have any of you used the overhead gauge pod that Geno's carries? I've been thinking about it for an oil pressure and oil temperature gauge.

I tried it but I could never get it to fit right. I tried cutting it but it always left a gap. It finally took my rear view off. That's been my experience with one so far.

I have been really happy with mine. I have the three hole setup for Boost, Turbo, and Trans. I got mine to fit tight by trimming the tab a bit. It's convenient to look up at your rear view mirror and glance at the gauges in one sweep. The illumination from the gauges on the Pillar Mounts irritated me after long hours behind the wheel driving at night.

OK guys... . I got one of these mounts... 4 gauge kit. I have the UConnect in my truck and it appears that the stock wiring harness is way too big to work with this mount so I'm thinking I will just move the mount over to the left, off center. I can actually see the gauges better in this posistion anyway.

Here's the big problem though! How in God's name do you actually mount the gauges inside this thing? The opening for my hand to get in there to tighten the gauges up is like 3/4" wide!!!! Doesn't quite work!

I put one in my 03 and am doing another for my 05. The 05 has more heavy gauges so I will modify the mounting for the added weight.

JTryles- To get my ISSPRO's in there I cut the gauge studs down, shortened the gauge brackets by grinding down the ends and then I also made 4 holes in the back to use hex nuts and a deep nut driver. 2 of the studs I was able to get the thumb nuts on there.

Great ideas there! Thanks!

Installed a 3 pod mount in a friends truck and it worked well . However the "sticky" pads on his came a little loose after another install mod on the console. I think this is a cleaning issue rather the a pod mount issue. I'm thinking a 2 pod mount myself and would clean the heck outta the mounting area prior to install.

It would fit fine I have aftermarket u-connect on the overhead console and the gauge pod would fit just fine.

The factory installed UConnect (on the '06's at least) is part of the rearview mirror. There is what I assume to be the microphone mounted on the top part of the mirror. This "bump" interferes with the gauge mount on my truck at least. The large wiring harness that comes down from the headliner gets in the way also. I cannot move it out of the way enough to allow the gauge mount to make good contact with the windshield.

How hard was the install on this overhead mount? I am looking at the 3 or 4 guage mount and want to use the ISSPRO guages that match the dash. Has anyone installed a fuel pressure guage in this location also? How hard was that? Any info on doing this as a self install would help a lot. Thanks y'all!

I installed the 3 mount (no fuel gauge) and the toughest part was getting ISSPRO gages into the stupid mount... . Your bench grinder will be a required item for this. Had to grind the studs and brackets and i wish I had thought of drilling holes to get a nut driver through the back of the mount to tighten the gages into the mount. Once the gages were in the mount, drilling the manifold was the next trickiest job, but not that bad at all.

However, I really like the install, and even the wife says it looks like a factory item... . I think you will really like the results and it is definitely do-able even for a first time CDT owner like me... .

It will require a bit of patience, at least it did for me. Good luck and go for it!!

Hi Bill,

I am doing ISSPRO's also and the weight of 3 seems pretty heavy for the way the mount is intended. Did you beef up your mounting any?

Interesting test

Since the overhead does take a little extra time + I don't want to scratch up a painted pod taking it in and out, I decided to wire up the light circuit to a cig. lighter plug I had laying around and see how it looked.

First impression was the ISSPRO's are a nice match, I laid them up on the dash and just plugged them in, then turned on the dash lamps too.

But... after setting there for a few minutes looking at them I did learn something I would have wanted to know before making the install since they will be hard to get out later.

A small amount of "white" light bleeds around the center dial, not allot but just enough to take away from a factory look. To correct this I will get the optional green bulb covers and plug them back in for another look. I think it won't make them any darker just change the white bleed to a green bleed.

The other thing I didn't know is the white body on the gauges is translucent so the entire body glows. Since I had drilled access holes in the back of the pod I will need to cover those with some tape so no light shines out the windshield and also I may wrap the bodies with tap so no light bleeds in the area where the pod meets the headliner.

I got the 3-gauge pod. Two gauges up there and my quadzilla knob in the 3rd gauge opening. My pod for some reason doesn't snug up to the headliner and at night, there's light that comes through that opening. AAARRRGGGHHHH!

Thanks for confirming that, I see you have the Isspro's also.
