2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission overhead mini-computer

My overhead comp died! A search did not reveal much data to work with so here goes my Q's. Are there any tests that can be run on the input plug without frying sensors, input systems etc? The screen is black with no readouts lights or anything. It appears dead but how to check it is my dilemma. I checked with two dealers, neither could help at all and did'nt even know how to remove it. I have it out but how do I check it if possible??

Mine did too.

But in the past, it wouldn't come on at times , so I pushed both buttons at the same time and it did work. It has been intermitent for 3 years. But it hasn't come on not in a week. I miss it.

I cannot help with the testing sorry. i was going to say how to remove as I had done that when replacing the wiring harness for the courtesy lights I suppose you call them.

If dealer says he does not know how to remove go someplace else!!! It clearly show how in the service manuals, the dealer tech's cannot read a problem!!!

they are still available, I replaced mine, and yahoo! I got info again (after sliding 3 dead presidents accross the counter) I did get some change, but I dont remember how much simple fix, all it takes is money, you are halfway there, you got it out !

Maybe not worth fixing. They're totally unreliable anyway.

Yessir! But now there are 4 1/2 dead presidents required. Thanks for the support guys and I know that they are'nt the most accurate of devices but still neat toys. I intend to try the local salvage yards first. Thanks anyway. Any more ideas would be welcome.
