My OH display says that I'm getting 99. 9 mpg when stopped and says 0. 0 when i'm coasting. This just started right after I had to make an emergency stop when a man ran a traffic light. I almost T-boned him and then he had the gall to shake his fist at me but that's another story. Where do I start looking for what's going on with the OH computer? I checked and there are no codess

Thanks in advance for the help.

Check and make sure you are not set on K/M instead of Gallons, I did that once in my 2002 1500 Dodge Ram and it took me a while to figure out why my mileage display was working back wards.

Did you try to reset it? If that doesn't work, what you need to do is: While the truck is running, close all the windows. They shut down the truck by putting the key to the Start position. Once the truck has totally shut down, wait about 5 seconds and then restart the truck by again putting the key in the Start position. Once the truck is running (this may take about 5 minutes to get everything running), then open all the windows again and everything should work OK. If this doesn't fix the problem then, assuming you are running ECM-XP software, you need to do a restore from last start by pressing number 8 preset key on your radio while the starter is still engaged and then follow the menus on the radio. If after all this, it still doesn't work, you will need to call customer service, but that' in India, so you can only call them between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM EDT. Hope this helps.

Klenger, I did try reseting using the reset button several times but no change. So you're saying to have the truck running, windows up and just turn the key back one knotch to stop the engine but not all the way off. hold the key in that position about 5 sec. and then restart and open all windows. Opt. 2 is to hold the no. 8 preset key on the radio and hold while starting and follow radio display instructions? I'll go try it.

Boy, Do I feel dumb. the display was set on metric liters/Km. I could blame it on my 9 yr old grand son who likes to play with all the buttons but his Papa is just as bad. I probably hit it by mistake and didn't realize it. Sorry.

Keep grinnin,

Klenger: Arn't you supposed to recite the DC corporate mission statement in German while holding the number 8 preset key? I understand that if you do this in English, the ECM will flash the code HAHAHA.

try disconnecting the truck's batteries for a few minutes and then reconnect them and let everything boot up again.

My theory is that all that electronic stuff is run by smoke, cause every time I let the smoke out it quits. Now if I can just find a way to get the smoke back in... .

Keep grinnin,

As an avionics tech in my eariler years, I smoked lots of equipment, so I think that WHazelwood's theroy is correct. I now work for a manufacturer of avioncs equipment. We have a couple of 25' tall AirLiquid tanks behind our manufacturing facility. I assume that's where we store the smoke that is installed in the equipment when manufactured.
