So my overhead has been telling me its -40 outside quite freqently lately. Id say at least 4-5 times a week now. It did it once or twice awhile back but seems to be becoming more frequent now. I dont really care and Im not getting all huffy-puffy about it and start making claims that Dodge sucks. Its just kind of annoying seeing that. Is there a simple fix? Im kinda interested to see how common of a problem this is too... If it means taking it to the dealer to get it reflashed... forget it. Like I said I dont care about it that much, just like to see if there was an easy fix. Thanks!

I heard the Phoenix area was having a lot of problems with windchill lately#ad

Sorry, just couldn't resist. Hope you get it fixed. Mine up here has been running around 95 to 110 pretty regular. I would almost rather have the -40!

My 05' has done that many times. Showed 115* in January while I was snow plowing and -50* in May when I was down in florida

No problems with my truck, but my car has that kind of problem every few years. I just buy a $7. 00 thermocouple from the dealer and replace the one on the car with it. It is then good for a few more years. In 8 years, I have replaced it twice.

Based on my car experience, I would take it to the dealer and have them look at it. It might be a simple fix - like a thermocouple. ;)

I had that happen on my Yukon XL a couple of years back. It had fancy climate control system on it and because the computer thought it was 20 below outside it would not turn on the AC when it was really 95 degrees and abotu 80% humidity...

Manual comment

This is part of the manual description:

AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

The temperature function is supported by the ambient temperature sensor, a wiring circuit, and Front Control Module

(FCM). If any portion of the ambient temperature sensor circuit fails or if Programmable Communications Interface

(PCI) Data Bus information is missing, a (– –) will appear in the display in place of the temperature. When the

sensor is exposed to temperatures above 55° C (130° F), or if the sensor circuit is shorted, 55° C (130° F) will

appear in the display in place of the temperature, when the sensor is exposed to temperatures below - 40° C (- 40°

F) or if the sensor circuit is open, - 40° C (- 40° F) will appear in the display.

Take it from there.

My overhead is reading 70* regardless of the temp is outside. I don't know yet what that means.

I bet that there is your answer... .

Looks like you have a loose connection or a bad wire. I bet the connector is loose or broken.
