Well I finally bought all of the parts to put the overhead trip computer in my 2000. I tried to put it in last evening and what a pain it is to run the wiring, anybody have experience with this install? Tips? Advice? Also there are two plugs on the top end, one plugs into the module itself and there is a smaller, 3-pin black plug, anybody know where this goes? Also, where does the temp sensor mount to? I was told it goes on the core support, but it looks like it mounts on the hood behind the grille, ahead of the radiator. I also have the keyless entry setup if anybody has any tips on the install for that. Thanks

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for the wire-harness? I cant find a dealer or online place that will sell it for less then $500

The temp sensor jumper wire plugs in next to the under hood light and run's along the hood with the sensor mounting near/on the hood release. I have a pic I will try to find and send it to you.

The three pin plug might be for vanity lights on sunvisors or for cab clearance lights??? Just a guess since those are both options when ordering the harness for the compass/consul... .

I bought everything off of eBay I think the console was around $120 and the harness was aroun $50. Thanks for the tip on the temp sensor. I will get it screwed down tonight then all I have left is trying to figure out how to install the keyless entry parts. I noticed that the DTE reading is off, not sure how to correct calibrate it. I know that with a full tank of fuel the DTE is more than 127 miles... ...

The dte is calculated by the current mpg and amount of fuel in the tank,,,,,,,,,were you idling when checking the dte? 0 mpg at idle no mph.

I was moving at about 70mph..... I checked it while driving in town at about 25 mph, tried resetting it and it never changed... my guess is that when it was removed from the donor vehicle that is what the data was.....

3-Pin Black plug: Electrochromic auto-dimming mirror. Power, ground and reverse switch input (cancels dimming when put into reverse).

Thanks for helping solve that mystery. I think the auto dimming mirror is something that I can live without. Crazy thing is my first truck was a 1972 Dodge W-100 with nothing but a heater and an AM radio. Once you have all the bells and whistles it is hard to go back... ... ... ...
