Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) HO or not.

My friend has a 95 with the auto in it. The transmission was replaced around 30000 miles ago and now the trans temp light is starting to go on.

They only pull a 3 horse trailer on the weekends and that's about all the truck does.

Also the truck is all stock.

Any ideas on the overheating?

Thanks

I would first verify if the transmission is actually overheating..... get a regular old mechanical (or electric) temperature gauge and hook it up to the "TO-the-transmission-cooler" outlet (front cooler port on the driver's side of the transmission) somehow.

If he's still hot... . more investigation will be necessary.

Overfilled transmission will also overheat. Make sure it's checked in N with the engine running. Fluid will look aerated and may smell burnt.
