I have a question about my 1991. Its a 4X4 automatic. I live in Phoenix and in the summer time my temp gage reads about 70-80% deflection or more. The truck has never overheated but if my gage is to be believed it has come awful close. Is this normal in 100F plus heat? Will the new thermostat decribed in the FAQ section help this? Also, the indication seems to be hotter than it used to be. Do you know if the sensor or the gage has a history of becoming inaccurate? I have changed my radiator to a four channel core cross flow. Thanks for the time.

You might try to see if your fan clutch is working properly. Sounds like it's not kickin in when she gets hot. I would have thought that the cross flow radiator would have fixed the whole overheating thing.
Just a thought.

Greg, I just replaced my motor to a 215. EVERYTHING is new. Raditior, was cleaned, flushed, roded out. My temp was running 1/2 to 3/4 on my guage. I had Cummins install a mech. temp guage. Actuall temp is now 175 to 185 deg. So I know my guage was defective. I must be nuts I actually miss Phx metro area. I lived in Black canyon city for most of my life. Beats the heck out of Central Fla. In the Deer Vally area, there is a very good raditior shop. If you e-mail me I'll give you the directions. This guy helped my 99 DROF out early this year. Just a thought. Cant give you the street addy but will get you very close. If needed. Regards, Mike

If you need... www.hughs.com sells radiators. It's a small business, but he'll get you a custom built radiator for a bargain basement price. My experience with him has been most excellent. The radiator I got was solid brass, so heavy I can barely lift the darn thing, and was custom built with odd outlets and 4 row core with high efficiency row spacing. All this, at a price of about 2/3 of what the parts house wanted for a 2 row core replacement.
