Its good business

The local Walmart in Dumas, TX put up some poles and a cross pipe at 9 feet tall so semis and RVs couldn't get in their parking lot. This was about 5 or so years ago. Less than a year later they took them down and then expanded the turn in to make it easier for big rigs to turn in. What happened was the lost business. I know my wife can't drive by a Walmart without turning in automatically, much less being parked there all night. You watch for a while, most of those that park there will go in a buy something, they can't resist, especially at the Super Walmarts, everything you need right there!!

Heck with camping in the Wall-Mart parking lot, I dropped my trailer and live there. Sure saves on rent.

Wally doesn't mind as buy all my food in the store and cook it over the combustibles I find in the parking lot, keeps it clean for them.

I also hand out samples of my meal to Wally patrons that walk by and tell them which aisle to find it in.

I even went as far as buying a hammer drill from Wally to drive stakes into the asphalt to hold down the stuff that won't fit in the trailer. Lots of wind here from all the cars speeding by. Old tires on the awning are excellent to keep it from flapping around.

Found a Wall-Mart Atlas in the parking lot that I'm not going to burn, it shows all the Wall-Marts in the country, planning next year's vacation around it.

In my opinion Wally should be paying me.

Asphalt campers......

LMAO at Bill. :-laf

This whole disgussion makes me think of a scene I saw in a movie. (I forget the movie's name)

Something was said about "The English conquering the Great indoors" in reference to their preference of comfort as opposed to roughing it.

I met a guy a couple of years ago who intentionally camps

the first outing each Spring in Wally's parking lot.

He does this to make sure he hasn't forgot anything when

he gets off the beaten path. Seems like after you camp

a few years you would have everything already in the camper. :)

Odd you should mention Dumas, Texas... ... ... the city has FREE rv hookups in the city park for those folks passing thru... ... ... courtesy of the merchants of Dumas!!

And YES, I too spend a few overnight hours as a guest of Wally World.

HEH!

That must be you and yer relatives currently holding a family reunion over at OUR local Walmart... :p ;) :D

And ya forgot the bit about letting yer Rottweilers run loose to give shoppers needed exercise on their way in and outta the store... As well as to fertilize the parking lot...

Unfortunately, many don't recognize satire when they read it... ;) :D

In life you have to overlook some things; and as you know this time of the year up thar in the North, its cold, which slows down the blood flow to the brain, and old people sitting around with nothing to do... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... :-laf :-laf

YUP - I can relate to that - unfortunately, as I get older, it seems "cold" MOST of the time... ;) :D

For you members camped at Walmart for Christmas, is the store open today? I need to get some fuel treatment.

I love this place.

At our local WallyWorld about 2 (?) years ago, two of the many campers staying in the parking lot got into an arguement, one guy ended up shooting and killing the other guy. Wally immediatly says "no camping, no RV's in our lot, and put up signs saying so. About a year later the signs quietly came down and RV's are once again welcome. Happy X Mas!

JTMcC.

Were the two guys fighting over the best parking spot?

I'm waiting for Wal-Mart to introduce hookups and RV membership cards. Maybe they'll offer a discount on groceries and RV parts for card carrying members.

If WallyWorld would just divide the camping spots into sections for DTT transmission's and ATS transmission's there would be much less violence... ... ... ... ... ... ... Merry Christmas all! LC

Roger rodbolt, I believe you are oversimplifying a very complex topic. What if our theoretical camper has, just for example, a DDT, but he has amsoil in his engine, a K&N under the hood, a reprogramed putor from an unnamed Eastern European country, a welded on 5th wheel hitch, one of those volcanic tornado things in both the intake and exhaust, and a Colt 1911 in the camper? Just who could he park next to? The possible combinations are just endless and it would never work, JMHO as allways : ) JTMcC.

JTMcC,

After very little pondering I realized that you are absolutely right, this is a very complex setting. Surely several of our finest Universities would accept large government grants to study and work out the details$$$. At the risk of pulling a "Lott" I would have to say that I know of no one capable of appreciating a Cummins Turbo Diesel that wouldn't heartily endorse a Colt 1911... ... ... ... ... ... . :D.

They might have a strong opinion on the best lube for the slide though, ;).

Mr rodbolt, I would think the same as you about the 1911, but I have seen evidence of subversives lurking about with S&W's and even Glocks! I don't know how that kind of person can even sleep at night. You bring up an interesting point about lubing your . 45 with amsoil though. I hear it ruins primers : ) JTMcC
