i recently purchased a 2004 3500 4x4 diesel and have noticed what appears to be overspray marks on the top of the driverside quad door and dually fender. i asked the dealer if any repairs had been done to the truck and they responded no. my question is:is there a way to find out if the dealership repainted anything before i purchased?the door and fender are a darker color than the rest of the truck. i hope i did this right. its my first time posting. been a member for a while but i usually just read.

Over spray

Steague, I went thru a similiar thing when I bought a Fiord Exploder, the right rear quarter panel had some surface defects, the dealer agreed to repair it, but when they did they could not match the color very well. the end calling in Factory paint engineers and still never got the paint shade right(metallic forest green). Bottom line they broke the paint and could not correct it, end up getting another Fiord exploder. . apples for apples trade. My suggestion goto the customer service rep and speak with him, if the dealer has a sign that talks about customer satisfaction hold them too it, if the rep cant get to bottom find a quality body shop have them look at it and if possible goto multiple shops for advice. And if alll else fails, contact attorney who deals with accidents and lemon law claims speak with him, show him whats going on he may make a quick call to rectify the problem.

It's possible that they could have repainted, but unlikely. Repaints are done quite often before they even leave the factory. On a Dually the rear fenders most often do not match the rest of the truck perfectly, the body is metal and the fenders plastic, hence the difference. Look at them in different lights and angles and you'll see the difference. As for the overspray it could have come from anywhere, clay will take off the overspray without harming the paint. Your local parts store should be able to hook you up. Fred

I thought I read a thread a while ago, that someone said the dually fenders are painted seperately from the rest of the truck.
