When I used to remove pin striping we'd use oven off, oven cleaner and it would melt away the pin striping paint and not hurt the clear coat... . than wash well... . I'd spot check it first... .

Go to a car paint provider from the phone book... . I've picked up a qt of clear coat polish that you use with a power buffer when the easy off oven cleaner didn't cut the stuff.....

The clear coat polish won't hurt the clear coat and should have enough abrasive in it to remove the spray paint... .

I use Acrysol by Kent Industries. Its a body solvent and it removes overspray, tar, sap, wax, tape residue, etc and doesn't harm the paint or clearcoat. Super easy to use, just wipe it on and the area just comes clean without any residue or elbow grease.

I learned about it along time ago when I was the gopher boy at a car dealership. My dad was an auto mechanic and I was sure thats I wanted to do... Rather than force me to go to college (I'm just as stubborn as he is), he tricked me and got me a job at the dealership being everyone's little b__cth. He will never admit it, but he told everyone there to make my life hell so that I would not want to ever work on cars for a living... It worked!!

We used it on all of the brand new Saabs and Jags to remove undercoating overspray that got on the paint at the factory.

I've been using it ever since.

I get it online at Discount Karting

Use extreme caution when using Acrysol by Kent Industries on modern paints. I have seen it cause cloudy finish. Do not use any pressure on the rag.

You must be as strong as Popeye or Superman. :-laf I have not seen it ever do this. I have used it all over the CTD, the Durango, the boat, the RV, polished alum wheels, etc.

From their Website:

Fast action; dissolves excess adhesives, sealers, tar, undercoating, road oil, waxes and silicone polishes

*No residues; cleans thoroughly without leaving an oily film to attract dust and dirt

*Use on painted surfaces; can be applied to all types of cured paint or unpainted surfaces without streaking or etching.

Preparation is key to successful results in many workshop practices, particularly when working with either paint or adhesive. Acrysol is designed to thoroughly clean and degrease surfaces, before flashing off and leaving a perfectly clean and free of contamination surface that is ideal for painting or adhering to. It is a must if there is silicone present on a panel shortly to be painted, or if high strength tape is to be used.

Being neither too 'hot' or 'cold', it is safe to use on most surfaces without damaging whilst still having enough cleaning power to remove any residue. Acrysol is also suitable for removing transit waxes from new vehicles.

I tried the clay bar to no avail but I will try the other suggestions. Thanks guys!

Go to autopia.org and ask your question. It is a worldwide professional detailers site. Very good information there for not only this question but for any question regarding care of your truck's interior or exterior.
