This last weekend, I went ahead and during the drain and service of the trans, I decided to do the 100,000 mile band adjustment. I grabbed one of my two torque wrench's and went to work to the 72-in pounds. Problem is my wrench was set to foot pounds instead of inch like my smaller 1/4 drive torque wrench. So halfway into torquing the rear band screw I asked my buddy who was under the hood helping clean my air filter what's up with this bolt, he gave me an ear full on why the f*** #@$%! did I try to torque it to foot pounds... . anyways I did turn the screw way loose and went back and torqued it to the 6 foot pounds or 72 inch pounds along with the full 3 turns off after torque.
After doing this I didn't even adjust the front band yet or try to mess with the throttle position / kick-down cable under the hood (which I guess should be adjusted to keep pressures in line and help with shifting... ).
I changed out the filter, put everything back together and drove the truck. Everything "seemed" to shift fine. The shift's seem a little harder during the 3-4 shift otherwise no issues... cold or hot.
So, with that did I damage the trans with my whole "blond moment" or will it be fine as long as I didn't notice any different in trans shifting / feel / etc.
Other notes: Truck has 118,000 on it. I have a Mag-Hytec Double Deep which has been on the truck since I serviced it at 80,000. There was a little clump of fine shavings (like liquid metal) over the magnet otherwise the fluid was still very pink and showed no signs of large metal or pieces of debris. Outside of my signature, nothing else has been done to the truck. I run my Smarty on SW 3 since I downloaded it a couple years back... .
Thanks,
Jon
