My husband owns a 2003 Ram Truck Diesel. Currently he is in Iraq, but informed me of this website if there were problems with the truck. The problem: This evening I noticed the parking lights and tail lights were glowing, yet the light switch was in the off position. I checked the following: all the doors were securely closed, all interior lights were off, started the truck without difficulty, turned on the parking lights (which yielded a stronger glow), turned on the head lights, turned the lights to the off position. The parking light/tail light glow continued. I repeated this process two times and noticed (at some point in time) the parking light/tail light glow disappeared. Unfortunately, somewhere within an hour the glow reappeared. Next, I turned on the ignition and let the truck idle for 7-10 minutes. Somewhere in that 7-10 minute timeframe the glow disappeared. Unfortunately again, the glow reappeared within an hour.

Any ideas? I'm not certain I'll be able to appreciate any wit or humor that is typically exchanged in these messages, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thats a wierd one, the lights will stay on if you shut the truck down and THEN turn out the lights, but it sounds as if you've addressed that.

Anyway, give your hubby a big thumbs up and some great big hugs when you see him next!!! :D

I say it is a bad contact somewhere, which could be the same as a bad switch. Have the dealer look at it if you are not mechanically inclined.

I would be inclined to think headlight switch as my first place to look for the problem. I had a similar experience with my Jeep, Daimeler product, and it was the headlight switch. I actually now carry a spare headlight switch in both my Jeep and truck because the tech at my dealership told me there were a lot of people having problems with the switches, some with your symptoms and others that their lights blinked on/off while driving at night.

Many thanks to your hubby for serving our country and all of us, thanks to you for being on the other side of military service, a military wife has got it all on her shoulders too. I hope he comes home safe and sound soon.

As far a wit and humor coming out of me, have none to spit out regarding your problem. If you were to become a regular here, then I might levy a little sarcasm or sic humor when it is appropriate, in jest.

I got an Idea you can try

Go to your local Dodge dealer and tell them where your husband Is and the problem and I bet they will go out of there way to help you. I know I would. Most people will go out of there way to help you. I live In Pennsylvania south of Pittsburgh. If I am close let me know My wife and I will do what we can,The fellows are super people and will help In any way we can. God Bless and we are here to help.

I appreciate everyone's sage advice to my dilemma. It appears the local Dodge dealer will be my best course of action.

My husband was right regarding this discussion forum... great support and good people.

Thank you.

What part of the country are you in? If you're comfortable, post the town. I'm sure if a member is close, someone would be happy to drop by and change the switch for you. I would. Its an easy fix. 5 min tops for someone who's been in there before.

Most likely, like Ken said, if you tell the dealer you're a military wife, he'll go out of his way to help. Oo.

I echo the grateful comments about military service. Thank you to you and your husband for helping keep me free.
