I'm at 94,000 miles but close enough, I'll break 100,000 within the next three months. Well let me think about this.

3/36 warranty

Upper and lower ball joints both sides

Track bar

1 Tie rod end

1 Lift Pump

Front brake pads because the originals were seperating

I can't really think of anything else

Since that expired I have replaced on my own dime

A/C Compressor and the canister thingy - OUCH

Right front wheel bearing - OUCH

Tires but they don't count

Rebuilt the vacuum pump seals

I think thats about it, I've had an Edge Comp on the truck since about 40,000 miles and the same lift pump and VP-44 are in there. The steering is so so, I could use a DSS and a DT Trac bar but I haven't done them yet.

I don't know what you guys are doing to your trucks, but

my 1st gen had 225k on it when i sold it and all I ever did was

tie-rod ends(and routine maintenance). My 2nd gen has 289k

and my tie-rods just went, the only other thing was the fuel shut-off solenoid. I've seen and talked to guys from this club with 1 million miles, I guess what they say is true, don't buy a car built on Mondays and fridays. I always buy Wednesday. Ha Ha

144K have only replaced EGR gaskit. I think it was tamperd with by the dealer where I took it. As the guy next to me with 76K had the same prob. other than that no probs

2-lift pumps (warranty)

2-center consoles (warranty)

1-sunglass holder

30-tires

and currently..... ball joints, track bar, drag link, etc. (replacing with Moog).
Wow! You must be running a gauntlet of railroad spikes to use that many tires? bg

I now have 130k on it but for the first 100k the repairs other than typical wear parts as follows;

rear end speed sensor

engine pre heat system / it melted down one night. . batteries too

crank position sensor

for my own amusement i put in the exhaust, intake, boost fooler and injectors.

had the trans upgraded at first sign of weakness at 120k

I have 246,000 miles on my 98. 5 2500 4wd. I replaced the throtle control sensor at 80k. Installed a new clutch at 175k. Fifth gear nut came off at 180k. Transmission went out because rear seal went out at 190k. Transfer case went out at 195k. Replaced my first lift pump at 196k. Replaced rear ring gear and pinion because yoke nut came loose at 201k. Now at 246k I am having my vp44 replaced because it won't start when it gets hot. It seems like a lot of things have gone wrong in all of those miles. I still love my truck.

I bought mine at 69k and currently have 103k on it.

Since I've had it:

1 LP

1 trans/tq

1 Head gasket

1 cracked manifold

Complete redo of the front disks

1 front hub

AC leak

2 rear brake clyinders

Multiple resets/recalibrations of the APPS

Before I got it 0-69k (things that I've been told):

1 short block

2 transmissions

I have 126k on mine now and so far

both front axle U joints (pricey when the hubs seperate)

track bar

headlight switch fix

window switch dr side

power seat switch

fuel shut off relay

rear axle seal (still needs done)

thermostat

fuel sending unit (also still needs done)

oil pan drain plug broke and I replaced it at last oil change

DDUNSE... ... ... .

Have you pulled the unit out of the tank yet. If you haven't it may not be electrical, My float broke apart.

Ummmm, Let's see

Truck has 125000 miles on it.

18000 miles, left front u-joint, fixed by dealer under warranty

about 80000 miles, left front u-joint again. Replaced by me with greaseable u-joint. Also replaced the other 7 with greasable units at the same time. Bad trac bar for about 50000 miles. Fuel sending unit didn't work for about 80000 miles. 1 or 2 recalls, (don't remember)

Started reading TDR, started BOMBing after warranty was up:D

Replaced clutch, (not strong enough)

Replaced injectors, (too small)

Replaced exhaust, (too small)

Installed DSS and new track bar

Replaced Air filter, (not enough air)

Replaced cam plate, (wrong profile):D

Just replaced front brake pads for the second time. First time I did front and rear, (about 60000 miles)

Replaced fuel lines and overflow valve

Replaced governor springs, (too weak)

Replaced intake and exhaust valve springs, (too weak for new gov springs and exhaust brake)

Fixed fuel sending unit

4 sets of tires, ( I don't usually wait until they're bald, especially if I've been towing a lot)

Replaced steel brake line from front to rear, (they don't hold fluid when they have a hole in them)

Oh for some more free cash.....

Mine has 94k+, bought it at 86,500 six months ago. 4th owner. Dealer fixed a leak on the transfer case, replaced the turbo-intercooler hose, replaced the turbo controller (dunno why) and susposedly adjusted the transmission, but I could not find any breaks in the oil/dust on the case. :(

Immediately after getting it home from the dealer's, we changed the thermostat, oil & transmission fluid. have drained the transmission pan & topped with 6 quarts once since then. I do that every oil change.

At 91K I replaced both front calipers & pads because the left front was pulling to the left when braking. I never replace just one.

No squeaks or rattles. Steering is tight and tracks perfect. No wind leaks either, Left front speakers are dead I presume, haven't checked it out yet.

Just bought a set of Westach guages and the A-pillar 3 hole + speaker cover, all of which is still in the box. Fuel presssure guage is on back order for 4 weeks now.

Wish List:

  • Alcoa 19. 5 rims (maybe 17")
  • airbag suspension
  • tight TC
  • RV275 or Mach 1. 5 injectors
  • Marco's ECM flash
  • satellite radio, but hate subscriptions!
  • rebuild cushion on driver's power seat, bar hurts my rump
  • new treads for the new rims (10k-15k left on mine tho)
  • Free fuel for life :)

Rear pinion seal at 10. 000 left rear axle seal twice right side once. Ball joints at 100,000 Clutch ,input shaft at 145,000 clutch had 40% life yet but put in a new South Bend. muffler fell off put a straight pipe on. brakes about 3times on front 2 times in rear. That's it.

Well after reading all the posts I hate to be the one... ... . but my 98 twelve valve QC went back to the dealer once in its first 100K. Reprogramed the computer for false oil pressure reading. That is it! The next 130K I had to replace the track bar and front shocks and batteries..... That is it! I sold it to a friend at 230K last year and the 47RE is getting a little weak now but still runs fine.

My 03 with HO and 48RE has the dreaded 72MPH vibration and has had the PS hose replaced but it now has 48K on it with no other problems. Hope it is half as reliable as the 98 was.

Bought my 97 from a tire warehouser with 196k, (now has 210k Oo. ), and it was fleet maintained. Not sure exactly what they replaced but the hydraulic boost unit was changed JUST before I got it and the left side was repaired from a side swipe, possibly loading dock thing.

I've since replaced the front rotors and pads and rt front brake line as well as a tail pipe.

Been away from the boards for a long while due to some illnesses.

VP44 at 89K, lift pump probably before then. Other than that nothing else, except front brake rotors whne needed. I've been doing a lot of reading trying to catch up, and now I'm considering/planning on the the DSS and the DT Trackbar setup.
