Sometime week before last, got a pain in my right forearm. The pain starts from the elbow & shoots down to the wrist. Figured I just did something & let it go. This last week, it got worse. I picked up my grandaughter & did the sit on the arm thing & wow. :{ Being one of those people that just can't wait to see the Dr. , I waited until Thursday go.

The Dr. diagnosed as tendonitis. The probing continued until a real sensitive pressure point was found, right next to a scar. :eek: The scar is from an operation some 4 or so years ago ... a melanoma was removed. The Dr. said 'go get x-rayed'.

The X-Ray Dr. asked some funny questions, so I stopped THAT process & asked THE pointed question. The Dr. responded that it appears I have something metallic in there! :{ They shot 1 more picture, ck'd the results & said 'go straight home & call your Dr. ' :eek:

The Dr. called me on the way home & said 'go back & get the x-rays, you'll need to take them to the surgeon on Friday. There is a needle in your arm'. :mad:

Well, the appointment is for Monday now. My Dr. agreed that the Dr. that left it there ISN'T taking it out!!! My daughter looked @ the x-rays & said it looks like a suture needle. It's a little curved mo'fo.

Evidentally, it's a leftover & finally moved to the nerve. :eek: Well, needless to say, I'm after your 1st or 2nd hand experience here.

Yep ... even though I don't like to jump to those illflem, it's worth the long term protection of ol' #1 here. Who knows what the effects are going forward.

Man, that situation stinks!

With the huge price we have to pay for health care these things should never happen.

If you have any plans to sue, I would suggest talking to an attorney before the sugery so that everything is documented so that there is no problem in winning your case. If you get all the details taken care of you might just get a settlement without having to sue. That would be a better solution.

Good Luck!!!

I know how ya feel. Back when I was 8yrs old I had my adnoids removed and some other sinus work done. The dummies miscounted and left 2 sponges up in my head which caused an severe infection almost killing me.

Needless to say my parents and I lived very comfortably after the lawsuit.

My uncle is in the middle of a malpractice lawsuit of his own. He was having acid reflux real bad especially at night and decided to have that procedure where thay wrap muscle tissue around the esophagus to help keep the valve to the stomach closed. Sorry I don't know the term for this procedure.

But anyway, it's a simple scopic procedure and the idiot Doctor tore a hole in his stomach while pulling the instruments out. My uncle got very sick and my Aunt requested they send him to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, but the Doctor told her to wait a little while. Anyway she finally got him to Baptist and to make a long story short, his stomach acid leaked had leaked out from the tear and started shutting all his organs down. He had to stay in an induced coma for 4 months while they cleaned his insides up. He's doing ok for now,but he said it was weird going to sleep for the operation in the summer and waking up, looking outside and there's snow on the ground.

My uncle had 20/15 vision before the operation and now he has 20/80 because of the screw up not to mention all the other health problems that he has.

OUUCH!! Sorry to hear, Do you get a deposit back when you return the needle (just kidding!!) Seriously, on the bright side if in fact its a suture needle (which it sounds like) it would be very high quality stainless steel and wouldn't be poisoning your system or anything. I realize it still has to come out but with new technology that might be surprisingly simpler. Hope you're better soon!!

Yea, :) can't wait to see the look on his face when I ask for the refund DieselDoghouse. :) The wife asked me about infection, but that would have reared it's ugly head years ago. That little curve duker has just been going for a ride all these years. :rolleyes:

You know WOWZY, my father just had a gall bladder removed. Slam dunk simple operation, but can be botched ... & was botched. I know more than I'd like to, but I guess if it's attached to the liver, the procedure is to 'run' the liver after you remove the gall bladder. That means pressurize it & see if it leaks where it was attached. The moron didn't do it, so it leaked, infection, darn near coroner time. :mad:

I use to laugh at the guy that had a cast on his right arm. He couldn't 'tidy up' after going #2. Well ... I'm still using ol' faithful right arm, smarts, but I just can't bring lefty into play for this one. :eek: If it comes to that, guess I'll just need to start the warm water running in the sink. :eek:

I sure like my 5 speed, but shifting with the left isn't my idea of fun. :(

Forrest, call a competent lawyer. Don't call a shark, don't call a newby, call a good, reputable, fair, professional. Having been screwed over by both the Medical and Ins. industries I can relate. Also, the Dr. who operated on you might not have malpractice Ins. It is more and more common for Dr. s not to carry it these days.

A few years ago my table saw kicked back a 2X piece of lumber at about 100 m. p. h. and opened up a chunk from the palm of my hand the size of a dime. I looked at that sucker hanging off my hand and thought... "I ain't gonna pay $500 to get this stitched up... " I got a curved sewing needle, some purple pollyester thread and some Vodka and put 4 neat stitches into it myself. Wasn't as bad as it sounds. The impact, (And the Vodka) numbed the nerves. It healed just great!

When they did open heart surgery on my father 10 yrs ago,they lost 2 of the stainless clamps that held the chest open!They couldnt find them after the operation,they xrayed him and they couldnt find them in him his chest. I still wonder if they left them in there,but he goes thru Xray machines,and gets on a plane just fine. Forest,i hope you have a speedy recovery,I wouldnt feel bad about filing a lawsuit on the DR that did the original proceedure.

Well, they combined forces today & hauled that little devil outa' there. Don't know how many people I had to tell along the way to make sure I left with the sucker. :-{}

There is a neat form you sign, that tells them they can toss stuff they take outa you. One @ the dr's office & one @ the hospital. I crossed out that line on both forms, wrote "NO" in the column, initialed it & walla ... the curved little duker is no mine! Now if I can just get that foul anisthesia taste out of my mouth. :( Got some good drugs to go though. :p

Thanks for the good recovery wishes. Look to be back handling the 5 speed with the rt arm soon. :)

I know what you mean. When I broke my hip and pelvis, I had a plate and eight screws put in. The bottem screw went through the pelvis bone and into some nerves. I complained about the pain for over two years and went to many so called doctors. They said the pain was in my head. The sixth doctor took a simple X-ray and saw the problem right away. The doctor removed the plate and all the screws, but the damage has been done. Three of the screws striped out and they had to dig into the bone to remove them. :{ :{ :{

Doctors get paid way too much just to practice.
