P 0201

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet but I ran my truck out of fuel on FRI. I have since then thrown the code's: p480,p251,p236,p628 and the real problem P201? Is this a bad code to throw? Please Help. Thanks.

P0201: injector #1 control circuit.

Set condition: when the injector current falls below a calibrated threshold.

Possible Causes:

-Bad injector

-Open injector harness

-High side driver harness open

-Low side driver harness open

-Bad ECM



Take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it with a DRB-III. That's my recommendation. You might also try resetting the codes and see if they disappear... it's possible these codes were set when you ran out of gas. If so, it will take 40 consecutive warmup cycles before they will clear unless you do it manually via OBD or perhaps by disconnecting both batteries for 30 minutes or so.

Thanks, but what exactly does this mean? Is this bad to drive on? Am I going to notice a difference in driving performance?

Well, it depends. I suspect there is not really anything wrong with the truck, and the codes you're seeing are stored from when you ran out of fuel. This is a case where an OBD reader would be handy, because it would tell you for sure if they're recurring. I would say if the truck is not low on power or running rough, then it's okay to drive and the codes will clear on their own. If it's low on power (like 1 cylinder low), then don't drive it.

Has your eng light gone off? If so then the codes are no longer current as the light goes off after 6 starts if the failure condition(s) no longer exists. The codes will remain stored in the memory though.
