Anyone know what the "P 0514" code is about? The "check engine" light came on yesterday and stayed on. Still does. Did the number with holding down the trip reset while turning the key, and when it went through the diagnostics it came up with the P 0514 code.

Truck runs normally, and it is still stock as far as the engine goes. Well, it does have the exhaust brake.

Thanks in advance,

Your profile does not indicate where you are from. In some cases if the truck is in cold weather, then gets a rapid change (garage) the sensors look for a rationality fault. For instance, if the coolant sensor says it is at 20 degrees, but the battery temp sensor says it is at 40 degrees, it can set a rationality fault. The system knows when to ignore the difference, so most often it is looking at rationality after an extended shut down. If it sets long enough, most all the sensors should be about the same.

sag2,

I'm just south of you, down in Hollister. Truck is parked outside all the time. (Won't fit in the garage). This doesn't sound too serious to me, so at the moment I'm tempted to ignore it until I get a chance to take it in. I'll call the dealer today and ask their service department what they think. It's startiing to look like a bug to me.

It does - "go away"!

Several threads on "Check Engine Light" and the P-0514 code -

[Battery Temperature Sensor Range/Performance]

As noted by others - it will go away. For my '05, it was after

the 5th start.

Thanks to any/all who answered this (on any of the threads).

Saved a trip to the dealer - although I wasn't going to rush

right over! Probably would have been gone before I went! [LOL]

There is a TSB on this problem. Do a search on "P0514" in the 3rd Gen forums.

I took my truck in last Monday to have the ECM flashed but there was a problem and my ECM got corrupted. Dealer had a new one sent in butit was bad out of the box. Now waiting on the 2nd new ECM!!! DOH! It will be nice not to have that darn check engine light on though WHEN (if?) I ever get it back!
