Second time I have had this happen since installing TST PMCR box. Both times this came up when I would idle along in first in traffic for extended periods. BOTH in the same place  going over Hoover Dam. Ran the codes on my buddies Mentor box this morning and it stored these two codes. Both times it would turn off the light after several start ups. 0606 was showing ECM failure, truck was still running great when light was on, second one it said to see manual, which he did not have available, any ideas? TIA

I have come to realize that if I want to enjoy the rewards of the TST, that I have to accept the same codes being thrown on my truck. Not that I really like having my CEL on, it makes me feel as though I do not know how to work on my truck. Many months ago I had called TST and asked about what would be throwing the code and the reply I got was that they never heard of those codes being thrown with their products. I asked if they got a chance to read the websites in reference to the codes being thrown and they said they never saw anything of the sort in reference to the P0606 and the P0336 codes. I hate confrontation so I took it as the codes will be thrown. I just make sure when I drive that the RPM's do not drop lower then 1100 when cruising around. In my case RPM's are my friend. No bashing intended on anythying or any one, just explaining that I have had the same codes for at least 6 months and have learned to deal with them. And when you add HP modules to perfectly good vehicles some codes may be thrown, its part of the bombing process :(

i see that many of us have this condition. my experience with these codes can be traced to ONE thing. do NOT run under 1200 rpms when cruising. doesn't matter what gear i'm in, as long as i stay above 1200 when holding speed for longer than say 5 seconds, i won't get the codes. i can tell the code is coming, because it will hesitate for just a split second almost as if it stopped firing for one revolution.

its probably worse for us manual folks, because when you slow in traffic sometimes, you don't realize how low the rpms have gotten.

with the auto, the converter slip and trans downshifting will most likely keep you above this point.

for me this is a minor adjustment in driving style to keep the TST happy. can't imagine being without it.

4,3 normally and loving it!

So the consensus is that it is an RPM related issue? Like I said, it has only happened to me twice, both times while stuck in traffic and I was using 1st gear to creep along in traffic at Hoover Dam, strange ,huh?

Also, while I am thinking about it, it seems to me that the thing did reset itslf(turned off CEL), after so many key statrs. When it first did it, I disconnected both batts for 1/2 hour but when I started the thing back up the CEL was still lit. Perhaps 5 or 6 start cycles?

mine normally resets after three restarts.

it is definately strange, but seems to be 100% preventable.

i have done the idle creep in first also, but have never had a problem there. i let the truck pull itself with no throttle input.

it seems to be time related. the longer you hold it at a low rpm, the more likely it will throw the code.

my biggest problem is slipping below 40 mph in 6th. it's a no-no.

In my truck, I get the 606 code and a 480 code but the CEL does not come on! the 336 code is the one that turns the CEL on, it usually goes out in between 5-10 starts. 606 is not ECM failure, it is the computer knowing something is not right (TST) but it can't tell what so no CEL. Last time I got the 336 code I had gone thru some rather large water puddles the day before, it came on 2-3 times in a couple of days. I undid the crank sensor plugs, cleaned them, and put some dielectric grease in the plugs and no code since then. with the 606 you should also notice an extra chime after start

I get p0606 all the time with TST. Even before any other mods including the EZ. For about 1 week it went away. Yesterday it came back. I am pretty sure it is related to how hard I step on the gas peddle and not low RPMs but I never "catch it in the act" so to speak. I always notice later that the CEL has come on. That is the one and only code I have ever got except the one you get if you forget to plug the air box sensor back in.

TST certainly knows about it. It is on their FAQ for 03-05 trucks.

"Getting P0606 trouble code.

-It is not unusual to get this code. It does not mean there is actually a problem and it can be ignored. We are working on a fix and will post a message on the web site when we have a fix. "

If they ever do fix it, I'm not so sure I'd send them mine back to get a new program for fear of them having broke something else to fix that bug.

As usual guys, thanks for the replies!! :) Since this only seems to occur when I'm stuck in traffic at the dam, I guess I won't worry about it to much, but seeing that stupid yellow engine on my dash lit up I don't care for to much. I do think I had the extra chime there while it was lit come to think of it. If anyone hears of a fix let us know!!
