P0016 and Edge Attitude

I have been throwing a crankshaft/camshaft out os sync code. This seems to only happen when I put the pedel to the floor to pass someone. It does not happen everytime, there is no problem with the way the engine runs and the code clears itself after 3 starts. I keep the Edge on the 3 (Drive) setting.



I am trying to figure out if this is an Edge induced problem or if I have something else going on. If others with an Edge had this problem did you find a fix or just live with it? Thanks for any ideas.

its the viper remote start, it also taps the position crank sensor and creates a conflict. I put a switch that disconnects the remote start for driving. i think its the blue wire it, taps into a plug on the bottom left side of the motor.

Vary interesting. Does this mean that the problem will only occur when the remote is used to start the truck? Or does the mere fact that the remote is wired into the system cause the code. I quess that if the code is caused by the viper system I could live with it. The code does clear itself and it does not seem to effect how the engine operates.

It would feel like my truck missed right before it set the 0016. I have a switch instlled between the viper box and the tap into the position crank sensor. I close the circut before starting turbo cool down and then I can start the truck again with the remote. I open the circut before I back out of the driveway. Wolla no 0016 and no miss

You did not mention a "miss", I would tend to believe it is a "nuscience" code, excuse my spelling,



If it only happens when you are hitting it, I will bet you are below 1100rpm, you nail it, bang, engine light illuminates!



This is very common and nothing to worry about, more than a few boxes and programmers have caused this.
