Anyone know what this might be?

Just got back from towing a friend's truck home, would start but stall right away, he changed the fuel filter and then it would not start.

Is this just a lift pump? and if so, where is it on an 03?

Thanks!

Anyone?

This unit will not start, we are pretty sure it is a fuel pump. It appears to be attached to the filter, and cannot be easily be replaced with aftermarket stuff. Can we install a 2nd gen lift pump( or holley blue, or the like) by the tank, or will the failed pump attached to the fuel filter act as a restriction?

Thanks!

Sounds like your VP44 is toast... Shoulda replaced the lift pump a long time ago. A bad lift pump doesn't throw codes... Till the VP44 is history...

Um, didn't common rail start in 03? Isn't an 01 a 2nd gen truck?

If you reread the original post... he towed his buddies truck home, then asked where the pump is on an '03. P0628 is related to the lift pump, my rig is currently broke down in SoCal, hoping "all" thats wrong is the lift pump. If done by D/C, they replace it with an intank pump set up. :rolleyes: Crossing my fingers, as for the other code my P Code cheat sheet is in my truck 235 miles away. :{

Well, I guess he's gonna try a fass or airdog, as the options are limited.

Glad I bought his truck, I trust it more. ;)

Anyone know if the overboost code is a normal code in this kind of malfunction?

Thanks!
