P0243 Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid A Malfunction

I just got this error code on my 2004. 5, 5. 9L, 3500 w/118K miles. Not sure why, but the transmission idot light also came on for a couple days but has since gone out. transmission was rebuilt at 68K, has seemed fine since.

Anyone know about these. Why would they come together? Any connection?

I don't see any particular reason they'd come on together. Why did you rebuild the transmission?

Are you running some kind of boost enhancer?

Ryan

My mistake, I'm the "idiot". It was the engine lite not transmission. Probably in association with the error code.

I run the Bully Dog programmer, I'm not sure if the extra power had anything to do with the transmission failure or not. I always ran it at the proper setting for what I was doing. It sure made the engine run better and smoother. I have had the Bully Dog for about 60K miles. And I have not had any transmission problems since the rebuild.

Ah, well in that case I would suggest that either the wastegate solenoid has gone bad, or the Bully Dog.

If the problem doesn't reappear for 5 consecutive startups, the light will go out.

Ryan

I took the Bully Dog off last nite and the lite & code went away. I'll drive it for a while and see what happens, then put the Bully Dog back on again and drive some more and see what happens.

I Have a truck that has about the same number of miles and had the same code. It turns out on mine that the passenger side battery cables had rubbed the wiring harness enough to cause a short in the wire going to the turbo solinoid.

bye the way mine would come and go for a couple of weeks till I deceided to look into it.
