When pulling a long grade with 12,000 lbs behind Tuesday the check engine light came on and posted the P0252 code. It read injection pump fuel metering control range performance rotor injector. Could anyone interpret that for me? Pump was replaced 10,000 miles ago with the Blue Chip Diesel Fed EX version. Truck runs great, erased codes and no light today. Could low fuel pressure cause this code from a clogged fuel filter? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge. DW

this is usually related to the VP going bad. since yours is new the other times this and 0251 come rearing their heads is when you have a bad ground connection to your fueling box. check the power and grounds to the UFB and see if it clears up.

did you notice a real quick stumble and back on just before the light?

I had a p0252 aswell, the next day the truck stranded me at an intersection, VP44 failure - bled injectors and check fuel pressure, just wouln't start.

I'm going to try a Hot ROd pump next.

What kinda warranty did you get on that pump? If it is still under warranty I would pull it and go for a replacement.

Our pumps come with a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty..... If you tap the pump wire the warranty still applies to the pump but if the elecronics get fried they are not covered.

Computer was down

Just got it back today, this is the first I've read the responses. The wire has been pierced but it is rarly run on any setting but 1 and never any other than 1 while towing. The motor never made any change in how it ran to go along with the check engine light coming on. No pump failure symtoms and the FASS is running, no problem hearing it just no fuel pressure gauge yet. Am going to change filter as it's been about 12. 000 miles. Hope it doesn't come back. When the pump failed the first time the engine light never came on but it did post a code. DW
