Have been doing some searching here and haven't found this same problem, so I am going to take crack at describing this and see if anyone has had this happen to them.

Back in February I had a lift pump failure, the truck had 300k on it and still had carter pump on the side of the filter housing. The shop I had it towed to had a FASS DDRP so I told them to just put it on. I drove the truck about 500 miles after that with no problems.

Then in April I took a trip to TN, I got about 40 miles from home and when getting on the interstate the check engine light came on, the truck seemed to run fine but when I got into the throttle pretty hard the tach jumped all over the place, I stopped at the next exit and read the code, (P0341) I drove to the next Dodge dealer and bought a new Cam/Crank sensor, it was raining and nasty so I just drove on, I drove 900 miles there and 900 miles back home with no problems except the tach jumping.

When I got home I did replace the cam sensor and cleared the code, but on a test drive the code promptly set again, now the story gets stranger, when it started getting warmer this spring and I started using the a/c whenever I get into the throttle and the tach starts jumping the a/c quits working and sets code P647,(A/C Clutch Relay Circuit High Voltage) if I turn the a/c off for a few seconds and back on it works fine until I hit the throttle again and the tach jumps then a/c quits again.

I don't know if the FASS pump being installed has anything to do with this but it has been the only thing done to the truck in a long time so I thought I should mention it.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to make sure I got everything explained as best I could, I hope some TDR member much wiser than me can shed some light on this gremlin.

Thanks,

Tim

I guess I may have to take it to the stealership, we are going to Colorado in September and I don't want to have whatever this is become fatal while in the mountains, and I am out of Ideas.

I had some issues very similar to yours a while back and the dealership reset my TIP Module. The problems went away since then.

That Pump should have NO relationship to the problem,(If install correctly). What I don't understand ,the factory pump went 300k and they replace it with fass... . $180. 00 factory pump and 30 minutes to change?

Hey TWest,

I did fail to say that was the 3rd carter pump in the 300K, I had thought about pulling the FASS back off and putting a carter back on just to see if it was the problem, but I too think it was just a coincidence that this happened right after the pump upgrade. I am not sure I understand the question as to why did they put a FASS on. Did I make a mistake by upgrading to FASS and not just putting a carter back on?

Tim

No I see no problem with fass Pump,Its just so easy to change the factory Pump when it fails, 30 minutes in any parking lot and $180 and your done. We have come up with the fix Dual Factory Pumps 03/07 . It eliminates the worry of ever be stranded again.
