The wife's '01 2500 had the check engine light come on yesterday on the way home from work, she said it rattled some and the tach died for a short time but the engine kept running.

I did the key switch code read and came up with the P1693 code then got the P0341 camshaft positon sensor code with my code reader.

The truck seems to be running fine and the tach started working before she got home. Should I reset the code and see how it goes or headed it to the dealer for a check up?

Thanks

Jeff

Could have been an intermittent failure or a bad electrical connector somewhere in the leads coming from the cps back to the ECM.

Check your connections and make sure they are clean and solid. If it is the cps, you are going have to eventually replace it if it fails for good. Best to replace it on your time rather than when it fails at the worst time.

They are a bugger to get to under the IP but can be replaced without pulling the IP.

This may or may not be of help but I figured may as well post it just in case.

Thanks for the replies.

I cleared the code, we'll see how that goes.

I plan on picking one up and replacing it over New Years weekend.
