The ECM monitors fan speed to insure it matches the speed it has commanded.

In this case it may point to a faulty fan clutch. As a quick test maybe turn on your A/C to see if the fan starts pulling air.

Beyond that a scan tool will help diagnose the fault.

I can fax it to you if you have a fax, its 3 pages long.

I took a quick look and its basically testing the integrity of the circuit and if good to replace the fan clutch.

Is your check engine light on? I have this code for 8 months now without triggering the the CEL. I did the A/C test and the cooling fan engage as it should but I don't know if turning at the right RPM as the ECM is commanding. I never have any overheating issue even driving in heavy traffic with A/C on.

The check engine light is not on while the code is in memory.

I have checked the integrty of the circuit and find no problem.

The only thing I have a question on is on the scanner when I engage the ac I see the duty cycle on the fan go to 99% but It takes the fan a good 30-50 sec. before the fan engages.

That would mean it was stored at one time but currently is ok. I would just clear the code and address the issue if the lamp comes on again with that same code.

It will come in slow rather than just "wham" like an a/c clutch. I took a look at my 05's operation with the Modis and found trouble commanding the fan on, not sure what that is about so will have to check into that. If your code returns it is probably early signs of fan clutch failure.

Sounds like you need a new fan clutch, that code sets when actual fan speed does not match commanded speed. I could also mail you the testing chart if you don't have a fax or maybe you know of a place that has a fax that would receive it for you. .

I've seen alot of people with that code including myself and it never sets the light. I view it as a nuisance code like the battery temp sensor and ignore it. The fan operates properly and thats all I care about.

Well 400. 00 worth of new fan clutch and still sets the code intermitantly.

Anybody have a need for good used fan clutch?

In the beginning I assumed the CEL was what alerted you to the code and that it just wasn't currently on, in addition to having fan operation trouble.

I shouldn't have assumed. Any codes found with the CEL off I would always ignore especially when no operation fault is happening.
