heres the story: Ive had an intermittant p0500 since my factory lp died 4 years and 70,000 miles ago. Recently as the temperature has dropped, I have a very consistent intermittant miss, at like 45 degrees or less. runs better than ever, seems ok under load, or above 1000 rpm, or after warmed up. the p0500 is steady now. This is a vehicle speed sensor code i understand, but has anyone ever replaced one and cleared the code/problem? I also understand this code invloves the vp44 and ecm. Ive read alot of threads involving this code, but have never heard a "this fixed it" answer. any ideas?

thanks guys

The P0500 DTC can be caused by a failure of the rear wheel speed sensor located in the rear axle's differential, a wiring problem, a CAB (Controller Anti-lock Brake) problem, or a PCM problem. Chances are it's the speed sensor.

Replacement is a piece of cake... simply unscrew the old sensor from the rear differential and install the new one.

Good luck,

John L.

At one time there was speculation that spinning you wheels could cause a 500 code to be set??? SNOKING

I do occasionally get an abs light, once at startup, but, everytime i use the cruise in fourth gear pulling a 12,000 trailer up a mountain
