A few weeks ago I was taking an exit ramp off the freeway and noticed the OD off light came on the dash as well as the RPM's came up. This happened again at the same exit, so I realized this seems to happen mostly when the truck is decelerating and the bouncing around. Took the truck to the shop where it has been worked on before and after running diagnostic and pulling the codes they diagnosed the speed sensor on the rear end as defective and replaced it. This morning it did it again, different location, but the truck was decelerating and there was some bumps in the road. I am beginning to suspect there is something loose that is causing this to happen, not sure if its in the transmission, or possibly the OD off switch may be going bad. Once the truck shifts out of overdrive, you can press the OD off switch and the truck goes back into OD and stayed this morning. Transmission fluid level is fine, the transmission was serviced @ 12K miles ago, shifts fine, pulls fine, plenty of power.

The P0751 code is OD Switch Pressed (low) more than 5 minutes makes the think the switch may be going bad and or something loose in that circuit.

Anyone else had this type of problem?

The troubleshooting steps in the Dodge Powertrain Diagnostics manual have you check for continuity and a short circuit in the wiring harness between the OD switch and PCM. They also have you check the proper function of the OD switch. If everything checks out OK, then they have you replace th PCM.

Would you like me to post the specific steps to take and which wires to check?
