I was driving down the road around 57 mph, and everything was fine. I jump onto a 65 mph road and all of a sudden it starts missing. Not full time, but every few seconds. At first I thought it was the road. It seems to do it when there is a bump in the road. ?. So I turn around and head back for home. Misses maybe twice the 45 minutes home (both were soon after I was back to 55). When I got home, I checked codes and came up with P1693 and P1689. Looking at the nice code list TTMT made for us (thanks btw) The code is IP related. So does this mean the pump is toast? My lift pump went out a year and a half ago. I've had a fuel pressure gauge since and has always had good pressure(12-14 PSI), even tonight when it had problems. It measures pressure at the schraeder valve on the pump.

So is the VP dying?:{:{:{

Most likely an electronics failure of your VP44 but you can try and unplug the wireing harness from the VP check for any corrosion or loose connections. But I suspect you are getting ready for a new IP

Im dealing with the same thing, 1689, (No communication between ecm and vp44) I cleaned all connections and all was good for a few days then, same thing even worse, sounds like its hitting on 2 cyls, shut it off and it starts up fine, might run 2 more days. From what I read I think the computer in the vp44 is going south. I'm gonna call MWFI tomorrow. bummer

Guess I'll start looking for another truck. $1200 for the pump then another $5000 on the transmission in the near future is more than I'm going to spend on it.
