i test drove a truck with a p1693 code stored in its memory when i turned the key on 3 times... that was the only one and i also heard the lift pump running when he started the truck up & it did not miss when I was out driving at WOT. . So is this a good indication that the lift pump is good and should I have them replace that sensor before I pick it up tomorrow? Because from reading hear i know that that is the code for the crank position sensor... Also he showed me the bill for the ranny & the whole transmission is rebuilt so no worries with that ... The truck is a 2000 Dodge & was wondering if these have a tone ring that could come loose like TBrown's did... And wear out that sensor...

p1693 just means there is a code stored in a companion module. need to scan the truck with a scan tool to get the actual code. mark

p1693 is a companion code it just lets you know that the ECM has codes set you have to have them read with a scanner try autozone advanced dont do it . you may have more than 1 code ... you dont know untill the scan.

your lift pump test is not factional , the engine will run with a bad LP

the LP could cycle but not pull as much fuel from the tank as it should ... go have a Fp gauge hooked to the schrader valve about 10 psi @ idle not much less or the LP is going South a LP is under $200 I wouldnt let a bad lift pump keep you from the truck youd have to change it sooner or later anyway

What sensor are you refering to?

Ive never heard of a tone ring?

someone please fill us in.

could this code be related to anything serious... . my buddy drove the truck and went to shift to neutral and accidently went to reverse. . lol i was going to kill him... he caught it in time before anything happened the truck was in reverse for like a half second and bucked before he shifted out we were going like 25 30 he was going to slow down a little and shift into 4 high. . could this have tripped the code the check engine light never came on i just cycled the key and came across the code...

On the lift pump i'm prolly going to get the truck anyway & will be recieveing a gauge from rip soon so every once and a while i could check my pressure. . until i get a permanet gauge. . and plan on adding a fass II anyway
