I have had my Comp go into the weird light mode a couple times, either two lights illuminated and can't turn the unit on or off, or no lights illuminated and can't turn the unit on or off.

My question is this: This time it has set the P1693 code, but nothing else in the odometer display. Upon restarting the truck, I can turn off the Comp box and the check engine light will eventually go out (after a few run cycles). If I turn the Comp back on, the check engine light comes back within a few miles. If the code P1693 is a companion code, shouldn't there be something else popping up pointing to the trouble?

I assume I'll have to send the unit back to Edge, but the code issue confused me (yes, the list of simple things that confuse me is long, please don't feel like you have to expound on them here!:D )

I too was recieving the "P1693" code in the odometer display(key on, off, on,off, leave on) . I also was getting a P0122 code as well. Every few starts the computer would reset and the truck would be fine with no check engine light , then the light would come on again and the truck would run like crap. Finally got it to the dealer and my Lift Pump was bad and causing those codes to pull. The dealer replaced the LP ( $250 parts+$160 labor). If the LP is bad, I would suggest having a cummins shop do your LP unless you are under warranty.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies guys. I will be checking the fuel pressure this afternoon when I get home to see where the LP stands. I haven't checked it for a while, I kinda base the status of the pump on how well it primes after a fuel filter change...

I have a buddy that has a shop with a good ascanner, but I won't be around his area for a week or two, guess I'll have to make a point to get in to see him and clear all of the codes...

I also brainstormed a bit (OUCH!!) and figure I'll reattach the ground connection for the Comp, I already 'exercised' the MAP and datalink connectors with fresh dielectric grease, but didn't check the ground or fuel pump connection (I used the Blue Chip pump cover instead of piercing the wire).

Again, thanks for the ideas and info
