P1693

I pulled this code out of my truck, and the service manual says "DTC was set, blah, blah", also says to go to dealer... in so many words...

Got any ideas... . I've been fooling with my Comp, and I imagine I might have done an overboost, or some such thing.

Is this a code I can get rid of? It looks like I might need a scanner to dump this one!!!

code

after installing my comp box I promptly sent that code. After several restarts it went away and has not come back.

Colin, you need a scanner to remove any codes. The check engine light will disappear with time, or when you disconnect both negative terminals on the batteries for awhile. Welcome to the club !!!

Hey Scott... .

Thats my understanding too. . It stays in the ECM until you erase it with the scanner... Just curious about the code itself. . not sure why it popped.

Thanks again. .

When I ran without a boost module for a few days, thats the only code I could set. Chances are thats what it is. No check engine light with it either.

ECM's....HMMMMPH!!

Thanks, guys, for all the replys... It did go away... I just don't like the fact that it's stuck in the ECM memory... OH WELL!!

Thanks again,

Colin

Re: ECM's....HMMMMPH!!

CCahil,

What that codes means is this: The ECM had a problem communicating with one of the other computers on your truck. I had 1693 and 0522. The dealer blew off the 1693- there was nothing they could do for it anyway. If you use a home computer it is very much like you computer not wanting to talk to the printer. The other code I had was related to my oil pressure gauge. Ya the 1693 is stored in memory but wont cause you any problems. If you bought the shop manuals for the Dodge, you will find all the codes in section 25 ( I think that is the right section)

Hey Colin,

After my last run down the 1/4 mile Saturday, the Check Engine light came on, scared me half to death, as I had never had it light up before... . I didn't even know how to check the codes until Ian showed me the trick. Mine had a 0500 & 1693. Ian had his Dodge service manual, looked it up, 0500 said No speed sensor signal detected. By the time I got home that night, the check engine light had gone off, so I no longer care.

I posted this same question in the Events/Rallies forum here on TDR, and basically everyone said it was due to communication failures between various electronics components and nothing to worry about.
