P1693

Turbo Charge Control Circuit Malfunction.

Ok, What does that mean?

I have checked in the search feature but the information there said that it is a "DTC companion code" and the only code I have is the P1693.

I have a Comp Box and I have not modified the wastegate,yet.

Any Ideas?

Code set, 1693="Diagnostic Troubleshooting Code" set in ECM.

I just went through this and fixed it by replacing my second APPS. First one went at 92,000 and this one a 143,000. I noticed that the operating max voltage on the new one is 2. 1 VDC higher than the one I took out. Might last a little longer this time.

Runs like a charm and no more codes or C. E. L. 's

1693 code

I asked this same question months ago. The reply I recieved that seems to be true - the ECM(engine control module) has lost communication with another module at some time in its life. As far as I can tell, the code does not mean that something is currently wrong. I have a Power puck and the same code appeared the first time I checked the codes. I also beleive that the code is a way for the dealerships to catch people modifying their trucks - the code is latched in the truck until someone clears it. By the way, I mechanic I know who works on Cummins most of his time, said he had a unit from snap-on that would clear the errors.

DC MILLER: My check engine light has been going on and off all week. I'm going to try to hook up my buddies scan tool after work today to find another code other than p1693. My question to you or anyone else that knows, is what do you mean when you say you have replaced your APPS for the second time? What is that?

Bseitz: Do a search for APPS or TPS there has been lots of threads.

APPS=Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor

After I replaced this for the second time, I decided to see why this thing costs so much money.

It not only has a rheostat but it also has a small printed circuit board sealed on the back side of the sensor. So it possible that since this PC chip and circuitry could cause numerous codes to be set in ECM.

I had troubles with everything from stumbling and loss of power at cruise speeds. Never stalled but seemed like it wanted to. In fact I had 5 codes set, and replacing this APPS and clearing all codes (dealer) has yielded everything back to normal and no more codes.
