Guys,

I need some help. I have been having the P2121 APPS sensor performance code coming on every once in a while over the last few months.

Yesterday the check engine light came on and the accelerator pedal quit working intermittently, truck felt like you were flooring it and letting off rapidly, then it cleared up and I went on to work.

Replaced APPS sensor and calibrated as per instructions on another post, check engine light still on for p2121. let truck sit and run for about 10 minutes, p2121 went away, drove truck around with no problems and went home.

Headed to work this morning, truck drove fine for about 2 miles, pulled out on major highway and it started doing the same thing when I got up to about 50mph, turned around to head home, then it was doing it around 30mph and then it got to where below 1,700rpms it was fine in any gear, but over that it was cutting out like you were flooring it and letting off rapidly. I checked the codes and I now have a P2127 code.

Any ideas? I have the factory manuals ordered from Geno's but they won'y be here for another 4 days!

Thanks,

Bowedup

Well I had hoped I would get alittle help from this forum but oh well... ...

In case anybody runs across this in the future, I finally found that the connector at the APPS sensor was not fully locked into place, which is why it would intermittently act up. removed the pigtail, cleaned the contacts, reinserted and locked into place and no more problems.

Thanks,

Bowedup

Sorry I was going to post check connections but I was called away, At any-rate always check connections for codes before replacing, 8 out of 10 cases its either Poor ground or poor connections. .

For that matter, what is the APPS plug?
APPS = Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor.

There's a black reostat (sensor) bolted to the side of a large cast aluminum bracket with a black plastic cover on the front corner of the engine on the driver's side. If the black plastic cover is removed, you'll see a bell crank and accelerator pedal cable, etc. If this entire aluminum bracket is removed from the engine, you'll see the black reostat on the side. This is the device that converts accelerator pedal position into a voltage for the ECM. It has a connector for the wiring harness.

Picture of APPS from above with plastic cover removed:

Picture of APPS from below with the normally hidden reostat (sensor) and electrical connector showing:

Hope that helps,

John L.

I am having the same problem... . I also replaced my APPS. Did you ever figure out your problem?

I am so ****** off with this truck right now, I could scream. I have spent a lot of money the last 7,000 miles, because my truck is so clean, paid for and was running great!

Big mistake on my part, Dodge sucks! If I can't get this thing figured out soon, I will be saying good bye to the only truck I have ever loved. I mean that too... . I used to brag about how great it was and so on... ... ... .
