Truck at the dealer, TST PMCR Bypass Connector questions?

Happened the third time. Everytime I hook my boat on and head south I get the same problem, at some problem on the trip I come to s top and the truck begins to idle rough, the engine light comes on and I have no power off idle. Above 1500 RPM all is well. Shut it down, let it sit a few minutes, re-start, problem is gone, but engine is still on (and remainaing on after 5 starts this time) These are the codes I pulled

P2146 and P2149.

What are these codes?

05 G56, Edge juice with att.

Heres what '04 Pwr Train Diag manual says:

P2146-BANK 1 (CYLINDERS 1-3) SHORTED HIGH OR LOW

When Monitored and Set Condition:

P2146-BANK 1 (CYLINDERS 1-3) SHORTED HIGH OR LOW

When Monitored: While the engine is running.

Set Condition: A circuit failure detected at cylinders 1,2, or 3 or any combination of

cylinders 1,2, or 3.

P2149-BANK 2 (CYLINDERS 4-6) SHORTED HIGH OR LOW

When Monitored and Set Condition:

P2149-BANK 2 (CYLINDERS 4-6) SHORTED HIGH OR LOW

When Monitored: While the engine is running.

Set Condition: A misfire detected at cylinders 4,5, or 6 or any combination of cylinders

4,5, or 6.

May want to check all your connections to injectors.

Just a guess but I would think your Edge box either has a loose connection or the box itself has a problem and is causing to codes to come up.

I got those two codes back when my TST was brand new... Fixed when I got a reflash.

Mine will set those codes if I fiddle with the low boost settings while I'm driving. I quit doing that and I haven't seen them since. Doesn't sound the same as what you're describing tho.

I am thinking I put the Edge box on last year, has around 20K miles on it since the Edge box. The problem first showed up this year. Curiously, it only occurs when pulling the boat, not with other trailers that are heavier. It also seems to occur when the ambient temp is pretty high, 90 plus.

My first thought was it was the CPS. I have had the long crank problem since this truck was new, but did not want to take it for a flash as I did not want to remove my box.

Should I pull hte box and send it back to Edge? Is it even under warranty after a year?

Thanks for the help guys.

does the edge come with an injector harness? if so try unpluging your injector harness and plug it back in, this worked for me with the TST.

My 04. 5 did the same thing yesterday... . freaked me out. The check engine light came on and was off just a few hours later, however, the code is still there when I do the 3 key cycles w/o starting. How long will the code remain?

I experienced these codes several times myself. In my situation they occurred before the engine was fully warmed up and I was giving it a little more throttle than usual. Now I'm very careful with the warmup and haven't experienced the codes since. Just my 2 cents.

I too just had these two codes come up while towing. My 2500 is stock except for the edge box with attitude. I was towing a Jeep on a trailer (7000lbs) across the mojave desert with the cruise control set at 70mph. I heard a "pop" and my check engine light came on. No change in power and no smoke. When I disconnect the edge box and cleared the codes, the check engine light went off and remained off for the remainder of the trip home. I have an Email into Edge to see if it needs to be reflashed. My . 02 story

I ended up just re-connecting the edge after the weather cooled down, and have not had any problems since. But I am somewhat leary of what the Edge was doing that caused it run so poorly.

I have an early 04 and have had both codes. I called Edge and sent the box back to them. They promtly sent me a new one but I have gotten the same codes with the new box as well. Any help on what I should try next would be greatly appreciated. Mine will only throw the codes if I have my foot in it pretty good. I have a 4" exhaust, K&N intake and am automatic 4:10 gears.

Thanks guys.

I am shut down for the 3rd time with this miserable code: P2146 & P0483.

I have an Edge w/ Attitude but disconnected it after the 1st time. I have rechecked all connections and the problem still occurs. The check engine light comes on, truck begins to run very rough (feels and sounds like it drops an injector).

My last trip to Dodge they replaced the MAP sensor and said all was well. NOT so. Please - anyone have a solution for this??

Remove the edge and pray.

Every edge juice I have had has set this code at sometime or another. Usually it occurs when the truck is not completely warmed up or I am changing settings on the fly. Usually I only get the codes on level 5. I clear them and don't worry about it. if I have to I can remove the juice.

Just set these codes the other day right before receiving a replacement attitude. I'm just wondering if anyone's truck shut down when the code was thrown like mine did. Also I sometimes have a rougher idle than others, just wondering if it's a connection problem?

Mine shut down on me in Illinois in the middle of my 1800 mile trip home. Thats what I get for trying to show off I guess. It didn't want to restart either, but I cleared codes with my predator and away I went. :D

does it happen when its cold out side? that is when mine does. I have talked to aron at edge says there is nothing to worry about the check engine light will go off. if the truck shuts down let it sit for 5 seconds in the off postion then crank it up it will start.
