Good luck with Gene's, I wrote them off 2 years ago, thanks to their wonderful, customer oriented support, or I should say non support. They even tried telling me, that my truck, which had 38 hours and mileage of 550, that their diesel mechanic was not working that day. Then they told me, that if I kept driving it, the warranty would be void. I had a CEL with Exhaust system service, see dealer now, on the EVMS. When they finally did pull the code and looked at it, they said it was a sensor, and if I paid the $80 S&H, I could have my truck back in 2 days. I asked if they knew about the AK lemon law, which states, "any new vehicle still under warranty, the dealer will pay the S&H. " I'll drive mine to Anchorage Chrysler, no matter what the road conditions are and have them look at it before I even think about pulling into genes.

That must really suck, the weather and conditions then a poor svc dept on top.

If you'd like to check out the road conditions in Alaska, check this out: 511. alaska.gov then on the right side, in "MAP legend" click on the cameras and you can see the road conditions. Also, if there are red, yellow, green dots on the road, click those and the annotated road conditions are listed with weather forecasts.

I wouldn't let their service department work on a tricycle with hard rubber tires! They would probably tell me the air pressure was low.....

Little John, I'm right there with you. They do suck. But the fact of the matter is, Seekins has a much better service dept with a MUCH WORSE truck (the powersmoke). I usually have most of my problems dialed in as for the fix, etc before I even drop it off. Once the problem is pre diagnosed by me and I tie pink flaggers tape on the offending part, they can usually find what's wrong and then fix it. That's when I have to make sure they don't break 10 things around the bad part WHILE they are fixing what's actually wrong.

Truck ran like a scalded ape this weekend and went through a couple of regens. No problems other than the CEL. Thanks

So they had the truck a week ago and did nothing, picked the truck up and had a new appt for today, the 7th. Dropped truck off last night, they called at 10am today and said truck was done, had to order parts. Looks like I need to do better homework for my dealer before dropping the truck off. I used to call ahead and make sure they had parts in stock BEFORE my appt, looks like I'll start doing that again. Will advise on the fix after my next appt on the 26th.

Ok Bob, what's next? They re-flashed the truck, cleaned o2 sensors and installed new harness. I suppose they'll be ordering a new set of o2 sensors tomorrow as when the tech finished the truck up and said it was ready for me to pick up... ... ... ... ... ... I got in and as soon as I started it up it threw the same P2196.

Sounds like they did not perform the verification test drive. There is a specific drive cycle that should be done with the scanner attached monitoring the 02 sensors I feel your frustration

I'm actually not frustrated Bob. They did test drive the truck and put over 30 miles on it as well as putting fuel in it too. Everything checked out on the test drive and I do believe the tech. I'm more interested in the problem than anything else. At least with my Dodge it's not limping everywhere like a three legged donkey... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . Thats how my 6. 7 stroke was

Well that's good tohear

DFitzwater, sounds like your dealing with Anchorage Chrysler? I have had much better support from them, even tho they are 400 miles away!!!!

No John, Gene's is the name of the game. They've actually gone through the correct processes but the truck is being difficult... ... . must be a woman. They'll get it figured out one way or another.

Still had a check engine light on after last visit, left the truck with them while I was out of town. The new O2 harness that was installed was defective and was giving some other DTC's so after the installation and test drive for two days the problem appears to have been resolved. Thanks All.
